I stretched it out to 15yds and 20yds in extremely windy conditions yesterday and here are the results. I am still using the 7.9 grain wadcutter pellet. TKO is on order so that will tame the report down some. I have ordered a 2x7 42mm mildot scope for it as well. When I get all this installed and it will be one tough squirrel blaster again while I am deer hunting.

Nice set up. I also like the idea of using a magnet to hold the safety detent ball and spring during disassembly.

Thanks guys. I'm still tweaking a little bit more with it, I will install a slightly heavier hammer spring to replace the original one, it's not dumping all the air from the chamber.
This will probably fix this without having to install a power adjuster. Other than that, this pistol has become real joy to shoot again. Looking forward to stretching it out to at least 40 yds.

Try the crosman premier hollow points ( CPH's). They'll do better at longer ranges than the wadcutters. They also retain more energy down range.

compressing the stock valve spring will help with retaining air and save the cost and time of finding a stronger hammer spring ...... that will also increase the cocking effort .

D14Jeff, I will definitely do the compressed valve spring first for sure.

Longhunter, CPH's have always been my go to in .177 for my pumpers when it comes to squirrel hunting. They are up to bat for my next round of testing along with the JSB Exact Heavy Diabolo 10.34gr.

Compress the valve spring and try 10.5 Crosman Ultra Mags. If you feel the need for a heavier hammer spring, just put a washer or 2 behind the one you have as long as it don't coil lock.

Thank you, I was wondering if that was possible without getting it in a bind, the hammer spring is the original(32 years old) so it might need a little encouragement. Other than that everything else is coming together nicely.

Kris, if you want a lighter valve spring, take your trigger spring and replace the valve spring with that. Then, you can put a lighter one in the trigger, if you want. The trigger spring is about as light as you can go, and still pump the gun without having to cock it first. I can dump 20-25 pumps and not retain any air. Another thing to do is make or buy a spring guide, for the hammer spring. It will keep it from torquing and make cocking easier.

That's okay, the thing that I was married to would have a canary if I worked on my guns on the kitchen table, so now I have say as to when and what can be done on the kitchen table.

So here is another update, did the spring switch and fixed a small leak around the transfer port, 609fsp with crosman's hollow points at 10 pumps. The pumping is much easier now and it dumps all the air. Cocking this pistol has never been an issue with me and I am using the original hammer. I think old faithful is ready to stretch it out little bit more. Look out 50yds here we come. Thank you so much longhunter.

When we lived in the other house I worked on guns on the dining room table. Betty Lou didn't mind as long as I cleaned up. In the new house I have a gun room. I keep all gun related work confined there. I'm not much of a bird kinda guy.

Thank you avator. Here is the 50yd results, 20 shots at the target and 20 shots at the tin can full of dirt including fire ants. I borrowed the dirt from an ant mound. Hey it was just easier scoop from their pile than it was to scoop it out of my swampy, muddy yard. I was using the Crosman Hollow Points this time.
