aluminum breech for 2260... I'm confused
« on: February 15, 2015, 04:42:25 PM »
So, I screwed up my first attempt at installing this new aluminum breech from AlchemyAirWerks... I could use some help.

There is a sleeve that apparently I didn't get installed correctly in my first attempt with inserting the barrel into the new aluminium breech.  Now, I am wondering if I should even be using it?   It came off the plastic breech.

Here it is:

Help...??

That's the transfer port.  Yes, you need it.  There's also a seal that goes with it...

parts diagram:

put the transfer port in the main tube
insert the barrel into the breech, aligning the barrel port with the hole in the breech
tighten up the barrel a bit
put the barrel/breech onto the main tube, aligning the transfer port w/the breech/barrel assembly

You should call me!

That is the transfer port and it is a needed item. Assuming the transfer port gasket is still in place atop the valve exhaust opening in the tube, the smaller end of that transfer port goes down into the gasket.  Then, with your barrel into the breech with its port aligned with the breech port (on the bottom) lock the barrel into place with the breech grub screws so it will hold still.  NOW you can lower the breech/barrel assembly down onto the transfer port, then start the breech screw... check alignment... tighten the breech screw some more.

There is no difference in the way the aluminum breech (or any other metal breech) goes together... and is the same as the plastic breech (except for the grub screws holding your barrel in the breech).

Again, call me if you need a walk-through.  229 344-5355

My nemesis removed... the dreaded front breech screw.   It was very considerate of Crosman to engineer this unique and hard to find screw, using exceptionally soft metal, to ensure it would not last for more than one removal.

OK now waiting for a replacement screw.

Thanks for your help!

New breech screw arrived, thanks Davio!   Problem solved and I am back in business.   Now, if the weather would start cooperating...

Glad you are back up and shooting.  On the weather, sorry but I am pretty limited help there...  ;)
