Okay, I've seen a couple of posts on this and wanted to ask. Anybody actually doing 3D printing on here or whom do you recommend? I need a small part for some Daisy 450's made since there are NO parts available.

Ezman,

What part are you looking to print, I own 2 3d printers that use filament deposition and one SLA 3d printer. They all have their positives and negatives. I also have a bit of experience with ordering 3d prints from companies that use the big bucks 3d printers. If you have a model and description of the part I could hopefully point you in the right direction.

Appreciate that. This airgun has a clip/magazine. The magazine slides into a plastic guide assembly. Not very big but like I said, not available. I have one intact I could possibly remove to get duplicated. The other piece that goes in these is the synthetic main seal. If I can get one out intact I can possibly make those on my lathe out of Urethane.

I have used shapeways and sculpteo. both did quality was very good. They have high resolution printers. I would give the edge to sculpteo by just a little. I tried printing it with a local guy with a lower end printer and it was it did not print as nice.

it was a while back but it was between $60-$80. I printed it in black plastic which added and extra cost. White is the cheapest. They have many material to choose from and the cost will change based on that

If the weather cooperates this weekend and it's not TOO cold, I may hit the shop and disassemble one to retrieve this part. I believe I have 3 of these airguns and at least one of these pieces are broken. But if I can get these reproduced, I may spring for several to stockpile.

Depending on how much wear and tear it gets 3d printing my not be the way to go. If it is a simple to make part a cnc may be a better choice. From my experience alot of the 3d printed stuff does not hold up to wear and tear to good, most of the prints are glued or melted together stuff.

You will want to let them know what you are using it for so you get the best material for your application. SLA printers have amazing resolution but can be brittle. The film deposition normally print in abs or pla, nylon is also an option for someone is experienced. I prefer pla myself, the resolution is about .1 mm but the stuff is very hard.

The print from rdsail looks to be a powder/glue method, cant remember the name. I've had these in the past they are also pretty brittle and along with sla prints are not uv stable and will break down and warp overtime.

Almost anything. I just read an article about a company selling full sized houses that are 3d printed.

Circuit boards and even edible foods are possible. So basically as Big Bore Bart said depends on how much money you have, but the possibilities are almost endless.

Most people and things are limited to plastics and polymers tho.
