Thanks Guys,
I need to shoot these PCP's more before I completely understand the interplay between changing tune components and their effect on shot count, velocity and efficiency. I've been mainly operating on Trial & Error with
guidance
when I start to go off the reservation
.
One thing I can say, having a lighter hammer really gives you an important tool (option) to work with when fiddling with your shot string. I'm sure it would have made reaching a 70 to 80 shot count (with more power) much easier. However, since the hammer seems to require steel near the gun's trigger sear and steel again to mate with a metal (hold back) screw near the other end; a new hammer requires a pretty complex delrin/steel combination, light enough to be effective and strong enough to be safe. I just didn't have the energy to go there or hooks in my tackle box to accomplish this
Bob, please go for it.................
I glad this one is over.............now back to shooting

I don't know about making a lighter hammer,i know about making a heavier.
The original (i think you can make it lighter)
and the one i made
the short reg 44 went to 40.6 fpe and 20 shots 200-160 bar using cudas 21.1 grain with no tension on the hammer spring
and up to 60 fpe for less than 10 same shots at full power.
The how to is here
One other think you can do is remove the apostate there is inside the hammer,
the tension of the spring will be a lot less. Also check with gun uncocked the back stroke of the hammer,
the anti bounce system works well if it can go back 1-1.5mm,if more the hammer strikes again the valve pin
and air is lost for nothing. If less than 1mm the gun won't cock.
Or just shoot her and enjoy

Hey Piperman,
Nice "how to" video
However, since I don't hunt, I'm mainly looking for accuracy & shot count. This goal pretty much begs that the hammer be light, made of nylon or delrin. Also, because certain areas of the AT44 hammer require the durability of steel, the hammer needs to be made in pieces and threaded together & or glued.
Once my PCP acuity grows a bit more, I will attempt it.
