Enjoy, Jeff! I picked-up some bulk desiccant at HF today, and saw some very small disk, neodymium magnets (10 for a buck and a half). CLICK! I knew the screw studs were steel in the shoebox aluminum cover, and I needed a quick way to remove and attach the cover for lubing, and removing the female foster disconnect, on Joe's gauge assembly.

I nipped the bottom of the cover cutout (just below the bleed knob and recessed foster fitting), so the cover could be removed without disconnecting Joe's assembly, and here is the kicker; I put the magnets (stacked 2 on each stud) on the INSIDE of the cover studs, so it would still fit flush against the steel chassis. Worked great. The magnets keep the studs sucked-up against the chassis without any screws installed. Score one for a cheap fix, and didn't have to destroy the cover to do it. It does not move during operation of the shoebox.

If the box is struck hard with a foot or other object, I'm sure it will dislodge and all manner of chaos would ensue, some if it might not be very pretty, either.

So, don't do this at home, kids. Not recommended. Don't do it.

No Gene, as of today I'm 2nd from bottom. # 395 LOL( "update", now 5th from the end* we're flyin now , but Tom did state that he had a run of 500 going( aftter the 1st 100) and putting out 5 a day. The ship list has kicked in hard since I ordered yesyerday

My Shoebox gets here tomorrow, however, I've now decided to take the plunge with an Aire Tex 45. So I'm not even going to open the package, but either offer it directly to a fellow GTA'er for what I paid or return it to Carol for a refund on their 30-day return policy. Anyone interested?

Big A, you may fill your gun(s) directly, if you get the 3000 psi shoebox model. This assumes you are not going to fill above 3000 psi, ever.

You may get more specific information about direct gun reservoir fill at shoeboxcompressor.com.

There is an FAQ, and some forum posts that address this method.

Getting a 4500 psi compressor and filling 3000 (or less) psi gun reservoirs directly is not supported, encouraged, or suggested.

Actually it's a pocket gopher. Just by chance I spotted him pushing dirt out of his burrow, so I grabbed the .22 Superstreak and waited just a few seconds for his next appearance, then proceeded to dispatch the poor creature!

Shoebox arrived a little after noon today. Ran to Home Depot, got some white lithium grease and ran home to fire up the shoebox and see how it works. Hooked up my 4500 psi 88cf carbon fiber tank, which was down to 3500 psi, and fired up the shoebox. Thing works like a charm

I ran the shoebox for 30 minutes to make sure it was operating properly, which it was, and during that time it my tank went from 3500 to 3800. After I finish this post I'm going to turn it back on and fill the tank to 4500. This little compressor is absolutely amazing. It's also makes so little noise that while it was running down in my basement workshop I couldn't even hear it when I went back upstairs. No more 30 minute trips to the paintball shop to get my tanks filled

and I'm definitely going to need more pellets

you can fill gun tanks with the 4500psi model. before i got my scba tank, i routinely filled my TalonSS tank from 2000psi to 3000psi. the shoebox runs so slowly that as long as you don't hook it up and leave, there is no problem-takes about 10-12 minutes to fill that tank to that pressure. plenty enough time to watch the fill gauge and shut off the shoebox when tank pressure reaches 3000psi. also occasionally i fill the gun tank on my Airwolf MCT the same way- takes maybe 15 minutes from 22000psi to 3350psi

I got my compressor!!!!YeeeHaaa!!Pumped my 30 min tank from 2700 to 4500 on the dot in 3.5 hours and shut itself off.This thing is awesome.Why didnt I think of this??Next is a cascade system. Ken
