now the air ranger and d48 are among the loudest but my neighbor to the left (retired leo and ffl dealer) says these are quiet compared to his gamo

I'm going by 3 different apps I posted what was registered they are not loud to begin with some here can attest to that.

on another note, there was a letter IN my mailbox with a sat photo and distances marked out and the safety zone which clearly states hunting which I'm not doing. more so looking back through my surveillance video I have the drop off recorded. now it is illegal for anyone except the mailperson to put mail in a mailbox. can put it on it, tape it on, or wedge it between the flag, but not in it.
wonder what excuse there will be when I'm aiming towards my own home.*LOL*

Backyard friendly to me is, when the sound that comes from the pellet hitting the target is actually louder than the report from the rifle.

I did not know it was illegal, but you very well could be right. My mail box is locked and the only person that can put mail in it is the mail carrier. Since you have video, I would go to the police and file charges. If they do not do anything go to your postmaster who has to get the Feds involved and the nosy neighbor will have more problems than an air rifle.

I'd rather wait and see how this all plays out. the guys installing my solar panels were like , when I told them. there's really no way to see me unless he trespasses onto my property. folliage is too dense and I'm going to install a 9ft fence. 6ft and another nailed to it 3ft higher.*LOL*
might paint it neon glow in the dark orange.

BYF is when the THWACK of an impacting pellet on its intended target no longer sounds like it does !!
A quite muzzle report is great and quite easy to achieve .... After the fact down range, Not so much

  I have a couple that qualify as backyard friendly unfortunately my newest (Daystate Huntsman Regal XL .25) is not, my Synthetic M-Rod .25 RSII .22 ans AA S510 are so I just wait for my neighbors to not be in their yards and plink away quietly
The daystate will be used as a hunter and range gun until I can get a better LDC than the one that comes on her. Bu back stop in the yard is 8 large bags of rubber shredded mulch so the target back stop is also stealthy

I have a few backyard friendly air rifles; an R7, my daughter's HW30M and my Pro Sport. My TX is the carbine model so it's a little beast, it definitely packs a real pop in small spaces but it is just as quiet in the open field since the sound dissipates. The background target in the pellet trap is louder than my Pro Sport even though it's loaded with duct seal to keep the sound level down.
I use all of them in my yard (including the Crow Magnum) without any issues, my neighbors are pretty nice. I return the favor by respecting their time in the yard too, I pack it away when I hear them enjoying their time back there.

It certainly helps "backyard friendly" when the neighbours are not around.

If a squirrel falls in the forest, and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound?

I should've said my neighbors know that I shoot back there, they do and they appreciate the rats being taken care of.
And yes, a squirrel falling in the forest does make a sound, not sure what kind of sound but I'm sure it's backyard friendly

Boy, I thought I had it rough with just one bad neighbor and an acre yard to shoot in. I feel sorry for you guys.
