Opinions about Hawke Varmint series?

I checked out Wyvern Creations' web site.   It appears to be a "Cross Bow" web-site.  Perhaps the guy will order you the Hawke Model you want, but it it appears he doesn't carry Airrifle scopes "in-stock".    I could be wrong, but he does not list any on his site.

You need to E-mail david and ASK for a quote on Hawke # you want ... WELL WORTH your time doing so

I sent an email to Dave Wilkins, and asked for the price on a Hawke: HK5133 HAWKE VARMINT 3-12X44 1/2 MIL DOT.   His price: $165.00 plus 8 bucks for shipping, and there will be a delay because he has to order it in.     Bud's has it for 125.00, and 10 shipping, and Bud's has it in-stock.      I'm sure Dave is a swell guy, but he doesn't have the scopes in stock, and his prices 35% higher than Bud's.   (I'm not real smart, but I can run a calculator).

You have to call him, his prices on Hawke scopes are by far the best

I have the 3-12 x 44 Varmint SFs, in fact 3 of them, and I love them.... They have enough range on the MilDots to cover 100 yards with a 35 yard zero and a rifle shooting JSBs at 960 fps.... something the 4-16 won't do unless you turn the power down, you will run out of dots.... If your gun is less powerful and you want to cover out to 100 yards, you will have to use even less than 12X....

Interesting that you ask.  Shortly after I posted that, Bud's wasn't listing it anymore.  I believe that Hawke has minimum prices that retailers can list the scopes at. These vendors rat eachother out left & right.   There are a lot of guys on here promoting their own products and web sites, and still others that hype up products that really don't live up to the hype.  That's just the plain truth.  I could name names, but I want to stay polite & not start a war.  I've been happy with Hawke Scopes, but their rings and adjustable bases are trash.   Buyer be ware.

I have two and liked them until I got a Nikon efr for my rimfire and a sidewinder for my ft gun and now the varmints frustrate me. Clarity is nowhere near the sw and the Nikon. Also eye position is really critical on the varmint. You have to have your eye in the perfect spot or else the image blacks out. The reticle is fine I just don't like the clarity.
