So far it seems to be maintaining consistant power now.   Will keep shooting for at least a few days before moving to the trigger .

Well My Daisy 880 is now shooting at 10.4FPE at 8 pumps, with Winchester Pointed 9.68 grain Pellets.

I have decided not to go blow by blow with the mods.  Instead I am going to reach the finished gun and then make a posting with a complete overview of all modifications and the results along the way.

I got my good camera working, and am not any good at remembering to take pics as I work.   So I want to finish the gun and then tear it down and take pjotos of every thing and do a good complete write up.

I am beginning to enjoy shooting the Daisy 880 as much as the Crosman 2289.    So it is growing on me fast.

I realy like the accuracy (the single most accurate gun I have shot at distance [greater than 30 yards]).

Well I played with the trigger and was able to get it down to less than 1lb pull though in doing so it was no longer as clean of a bread so I undid the mods.   Though polishing the contact surfaces did help quite a bit.

I bought an 880 years ago just to play with and see what it would do.
I never even thought about modifying it.
Glad somebody did.
I never knew you could push them this far.

Wow.  Looking back through this thread I see a few things I could have done to improve the Daisy 880/901 even furether.   I guess I will be taking these guns even further next time around .

davidS... the winchester pointed weight 9 gr+??? wow... what kind of velocity are you getting with crosman prems (7.9 gr) if you could chrony that at 8 pumps it would be a great help... just to get a baseline on my 880...

Sorry I do not have any lite weight pellets .    I wish I could help, though I do not have anything liter than the Winchesters at this time.

Well I will be starting a new Daisy mod thread this weakend.   My goals are going to be extreme this time through .

I am going to attempt to push a Daisy 880 to 850FPS with Winchester Domed pellets, and I will atempt to get a Daisy 22X to 800FPS with CPHP 14.3 grain pellets.

So it will be interesting.  I am aiming for 20FPE for the 22X and 15.7FPE for the 880.  It is time to see just how far I can realy push these AirRifles .

I am intentionaly setting my goals quite high.   I figure if I set my goals high enough I will continue to find ways to improve on the 22X for a long time to come, as well as the 880 .

Though I am going to attempt to get the 22X as close to 20FPE as I possibly can, and it may surprise us all (like the Daisy 880 has repeatedly).

Nah not me I  figured out you could mod a Daisy long ago (1970 something) I just preferred the Crosmans and Benjiis.

I think 15fpe  or so for the 880 is a good goal and is just before durability issues will get bad I think...   I think?

I think that 15FPE is doable with out any issue.   I managed it with my 2289, without doing some of the common extra cost mods, so I do believe that I can get that out of the 880. I already got 12.6FPE what is another 2.2FPE?

And considering the pellet mass difference I do believe it posible to get at least 18FPE out of the Daisy 22X, I hope it can give me 20FPE, we will see.  There is also the larger in barrel expansion volume in the 22X that should help (I hope).
