With all the interest in first focal plane scopes...

I've come across quite a few the fits the bill. I came across the Hammers brand and was wondering has anyone hear had any hammer scopes before. I seem to recall there pretty decent for the money. What are you thoughts on this one.

I looked at that scope and the BSA tactical. The both were high on the list but I like the reticle on the hammers another thing that grabs me is the push pull locking turrets. I'll make a choice here soon.

 I like the matching turrets and reticle, never see moa reticles matched to moa turrets, always mil reticle mismatched to moa turrets in this price range.  Is this what you meant by like this reticle.

 Have you looked at the Falcon Menace http://swfa.com/Falcon-Menace-4-14x44-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P57240.aspx Matched MOA reticle to MOA turrets.  I had the Mil/Mil version and the glass was bright, between the swfa ss10x42 and the Bushnell 3-12x44 Elite 4200.

  I don't like  guinea pigging first generation scopes, keep us informed!

Yes, those were the first scopes I encountered in my search. They were number one as I was going to the extra money for 5x20x50. I watched a vid on the matching turrets and that looks like it simplifies things even more. At this price I gotta give it a try, I'll keep everyone posted.

I see on the Amazon link it went from 10 available to 9.  Are you the culprit?

I can't really add any Air Gun info on this post but I did just put a BSA Tactical from Midway on my Savage FV-SR .22lr and am really impressed with it so far!

I have 2 hammers .. a  3-9x32AO and a 3-9x40AO ... I would say they are in the ballpark of the CP 4-16AO  and to be honest the Hawke 6-24AO I have

i bought a   AIM ffp 3x12x50 with illumination new, life time warranty,under 100.00,shipped,and it is a very well made scope, of coarse i put it on a PCP,shin sung 201s, once i got use to ffc, at first it was strange to me,now i love it, don't know how they hold up on spring air guns, has good glass, and works great on the 201s.

seen it on eBay last night  116.00 found one today at eBay, 119.00 + 1300 shipping,buy it now deal. though i purchased mine last year, it has gone up, i only got it at the time on a whim,thinking to explore the ffp scope,never used one before , was expecting a low quality imitation type scope, judging by the price of most all other ffp scope,man was i pleasantly surprised,first at the quality of the build of it, 30mm,great glass,sturdy frame, and i really liked the way the center dot on the scope was the only thing that lights up. so no glare, yep it is etched mil-dots,on setting 3x the scope has fine mil-dots, and as you zoom the object and the mil-dots get larger ,i put on a shin-sung 201s career 9mm,recently and sited it in at 30yards,then 50 and out to 70yards,shot over 100 shots and scope held its poa or poi,so i will buy another one,i had let this scope set on a m-rod 22cal,and sighted in at 15ft, and let sit, have so many air and pb rifles,and other scopes that well i stuck with 2fp,till last weekend,i have leapers,3x12x44 swat,and 4x16x44 swat scopes, and Leupold,,and many other brand scopes, i use,I'm telling you this scope ,s punch  is way above its weight,for its cost,  IMO,hope this helps,

That does look like a nifty scope! The main thing I'd be worried about is how correct the turrets track, secondly how poor the glass is. Just won't know till you buy it.

I have 3 of the BSA tactical 4-14's. They all track well, the mil sub-tension values are spot on and the reticle thickness is usable at 4x but not too thick at 14x. The glass is of course mediocre at best but what one would expect for a $250 scope.

The next step up as far as I know is the SWFA 3-15. Nearly 3 times the price though, IMO not 3 times the scope but a better optic for sure.

That does look like a nifty scope!.

 The reticle thickness is usable at 4x, but not too thick at 14x.

  The actual thickness of an FFP reticle never changes with changes of magnification.     The reticle covers the exact same amount of the target @ 4x as it does @ 40x.  So the reticle scales with the sight picture, the fundamental principle of First Focal Plane reticle rifle scope. The reticle is stuck or glued to the sight picture so grow or shrink to the same scale. 

 You can prove this with your scope, point scope at a small target and zoom in and out paying close attention to exactly how much the reticle covers per magnification changes.

FFP...Take a reticle thickness of .025 mil and put a FFP scope on 3x mag. It's going to be hard to make out isn't it?. Take a reticle with .1 mil thickness at 3x and it's still usable because you can still see it. These are examples but you and everyone else gets the point.

I'm estimating the reticle thickness on the BSA 4-14 is .07 mil, so it's still usable/ seeable at 4x but not to thick to obscure at 14x.

I  am new to FFP scopes.but I know what i see ,the etched mil-dot/cross are very fine at 3x and as i zoom up all seems to get larger,but your right about the poi not changing,least that is how it works with this ffp etched 30mm 3x12x50mm scope,next time i go to a sport shop i will be looking at one of these expensive ffp scopes and see if it works different than this one..
