The first thing they try to beat into your head in physics class is to be sure to use dimensions throughout your calculations, and the last thing a student wants to do. The courses I took used both English and metric units. So, you could have a problem where 5 of the units were metric, and one English unit snuck in. Always screwed you if you were not paying attention to the units.
