I am interested in a HW75, or possibly a HW45 (same price). The HW75 seems like it would be the better
pistol for general plinking. I am not hung up on power. I just don't see much written about this pistol. I did a search and turned up nothing. Do any of you happen to have both 75 & 45 and have an opinion?

Hey brazos, i have the 45 and the 40. The hw40 has the same guts as the 75. Itsvvery easy to shoot well. If youre looking for general plinking i would recommend it. Its about $150 less than the 75. As far as the 45 goes its just as accurate but takes more practice to get good. Its hold sensitive but when you figure it out its the most fun. Hits real hard for a pistol. K-man

I have the HW40, 45 and 75. I really like my HW45s (four of them) and shoot them a lot. They are a bit more of a challenge to master than the HW75 or 40 but that's part of their charm. I had my HW75 long before I had the HW40 and I'm glad I paid the extra for it. The guts are not the same but they are close enough, they are both SSP pistols after all. I just like the wood and metal feel of the 75 and I prefer it's trigger too. There is nothing wrong with the HW40 and it is a great gun. I just don't shoot mine as much as my HW75. It's hard to recommend one gun over the other when it just comes down to personal preferences.

Thanks guys. Sounds like a 75 will suit my needs but people sure like the 45's. I can only get one. Wish I could try them both out.

I have a 40 and a 45, no 75. The 40 is VERY easy to shoot, excellent trigger, zero recoil. The 45 takes a little more finesse, also has an excellent trigger, and a little recoil. Both are great, but if I could only have one, I think it would be the 45, tk

I have a 2 p1s and p3. Have a strong hankering for a p2. The p1s (hw45) are definitely the most accurate, but the 40 has the sweetest trigger and cycle, I can't put it down.

Thanks again to all of you. Sounds like you guys that own both (at least the 40 in place of the P2/75) are just as on the fence as to which is better as I am. Seems to be a 60/40 split, 60 to the HW45 and 40 to the HW75/40. They cost the same so money is not the issue.
Here is a little more info from my end. I want to use this pistol as a training tool for my wife and daughter to learn how to shoot, basic stuff from the ground up. I also envision this pistol as a fun mid-day activity for the guys at deer camp. Last is for me to have a nice shooting pistol. I do have an indoor 10M range set up (designed a room in my house around it though never used it, just need a pellet trap). So for me just practice and having fun.

The 40, 75 is quite noticably harder to cock. Watch some you tube reviews of them. Common with SSP.

I would have to disagree. My 40, 75 and Gamo Compact are all about the same. My FAS 604 is a little easier but the reality is none of them are hard to cock in the first place.

Well I appreciate everyone's insight. It's obvious you can't go very wrong in the decision between the 45 or 75. Probably best to own both. I decided to buy the 75 and ordered one earlier today. Sure would have been nice to have both in front of me To test out at the same time but that will never happen. So the 75 it is. Maybe I can pick up the 45 down the road. I was looking more for precision than power in this pistol but hope the 75 isn't a total dog power wise.

I found my new HW75 when I got home today. I only took 5 shots with it before putting it away but it is really nice. No buyer's remorse. I have been wanting a quality AP for some time but have been perplexed as to what to get. I made the right choice. Perfect trigger, sights, and fit/finish. I plan to put it thru the paces this weekend.
