H&N Barracudas and Benjiman trail

Does anyone have chronograph numbers for this combo? I shot some barracudas this morning just for the fun of it and found they are rather accurate. But I have no idea how fast they are going compared to the beeman fts that I normally shoot. I figured the barracudas would be good backyard squirrel smackers (if the fpe is right)since my max range is about 30 yards.

I would worry about how well they shoot vs how fast first. You can do a seat of the pants penetration test and see how they compare, I would think they would be in the 14-16 FPE which should be fine for what you want.

They shoot great. .5 @25yds. I was just curious if they'd be more effective than the lighter fts. Yes I know shot placement is key that's not a problem. Just want to know if the heavier pellet will be more effective at a lower velocity and the short range I'm shooting.

Barracuda hunter extreme 19.09 grain .22cal shoots at 670 to 680 fps in my trail. It's the highest fpe pellet I have tried. Accurate too, but not as accurate as FTT's in 5.53

I know the TS-22 Gamo pellets (22 gr) barely broke 600 fps out of my Trail when I tried them, so I'd guess the Baraccudas would be around 625 fps?  In comparison, 14.3 gr CPHP's run around 710 fps.

Inside 30 yards, they're probably the most powerful pellets you could choose for this gun.

G'day Ed,
With the numbers 'Shorty' just gave us, you're gonna get about 19.32FPE. Assuming your's is .22 Caliber.

Formula: Pellet Wt X FPS X FPS divided by 450240 = FPE

I couldn't type FPS Squared and so I did it FPS X FPS, but that the formula Ed.

As you can see. With the Barra you're gonna get a pretty good bang for ya squirrel.

I can't tell you the FPS in your rifle (or mine)  but I wanted to add that they are becoming my favorite in
my D350. I have to work with them a little more, It got REALLY cold around here.

I was surprised at the accuracy and my Magnum rifle seems to push them pretty good.

I can tell by the shot cycle that they are going slower. LOL!  The recoil seems a little different.
It seems to take the edge off of the violent recoil of the D350.

And to add, I thought that if the 21g Barracuda works, then why not try the Gamo TS-22.
I did that because I could buy them at my local sporting good store.

I think that I might like them also.

I noticed the same thing with the shot cycle. also noticed a very audible difference in how long it takes to hit the target. The 14 grain fts hits almost instantly when the trigger breaks. There's a pause with the Barracuda. The impact is more of a thump, vs the loud smack the fts makes.
