Just did a LOOK-SEE of my local area.

** List is mostly retailers of compressed gas products being LPG, Welding gas, Propane etc ...
NOT many are actual HYDROSTATIC TEST & CERTIFICATION FACILITIES.
Really need to read what they can/will do before venturing out to visit them.

Great resource tho !!

I see Tom's sticky link at the top, but after I click that, exactly which links do I need to follow to find a list of test sites by state?

Thanks in advance!

Well, that link brings up a fairly blank page with no way to look up anything.

Go to this link:
http://search.usa.gov/search?utf8=✓&affiliate=dot-phmsa&query=hydro+testing&commit=+Search+

and then check the pdf's labeled "Authorized Retesters".  There are 4 on Page 1 and 6 on page 2.  More on further pages.  I'm not sure what the differences are.

Updated the link above. Type in your zip code, city, state, country and also check the mileage radius. My tester came up fine. And he is a small shop.
Hope this helps some of you.

Just found out this week after searching for a 4500 psi refill station locally, there are 5 different Fire Extinguisher service stations businesses in my area. They all do hydro testing on tanks and certify. Plus 3 of the 5 have the ability to fill 4200 psi tanks. Might want to call around your area if having problems finding help. I would have never thought of checking them.

Dez,
I had looked at the map already, there are several that are not included on the map is why I did the post. Just wanted to give another possible option.

Have to wonder though if they aren't listed on the D.O.T. map if their certification has not been renewed or has actually been pulled.

I specifically asked about certification and all said yes. The problem with the map may be 3 of the 5 places were destroyed by the tornado and had to rebuild or relocate. 3 have not been back open in their new location very long so the map may not show them yet. I know the one closest to me has not been back open a month yet. The City took the opportunity after the tornado to re-zone way too many businesses causing them to relocate due to license constraints.

Well, that's true. New or relocated service centers may not have gotten through the bureaucratic system yet to be listed.
:)
So, do a Google search of fire extinguisher service centers in your area?

Exactly what I did. The one that was 24 miles away is now within 6 miles, can't ask for much more. He is DOT Certified but does not have the fill ability. BUT, I happened across an old friend that use to have a public Paintball Range that closed to the public. I found out he never actually closed, just changed over to a private club setting. He told me he goes by every afternoon after his paying job, so when and if I need a refill send him a text and he will let me know what time to meet him. Plus, he is 4 miles away ;D
