CO2 Cartridge stuck

My son wanted to shot today, he doesn't shoot a lot. Anyway he needed a new cartridge and the old one is stuck.  His rifle I just tapped the side and it fell out but the pistol want come out. Is there any way to get it out without taking the gun apart?

#1 Do not leave cartrdges in the current crop of Crosman CO2 guns. The CO2 wants to adhere to the face seal and extract it from the valve if you leave it for a long duration cranked tight.
#2 Do not tighten the cap any tighter than a 6 year old could. IT DOESN't pierce when tightened. It pierces when you fire it the first shot. So don't load a pellet on the first shot.
Cranking the cap as tight as a man CAN will yield grossly underpowered performance and shortened face seal life.
#3. To get stuck CO2 out take cap off, point at the floor with gun cocked and fire it out.
The seal may come out with the CO2. That's when you get to take the gun apart and install a new face seal and start over.
DON'T CRANK THE CAP!
Don't leave it charged
Lube the CO2 tip to keep it from adhering to the face seal
Let the gun come up to temperature AFTER YOU PIERCE IT SO THE SYSTEM CAN GET UP TO PRESSURE.
Consistency is a warm gun that is shot so it doesn't chill. 45 seconds to a minute between shots lets most CO2 gun recover thermally to be very consistent. The more gas it uses each shot the more chill it sees.
The warmer it is the more power it makes and the more shots it gets. Starting warm is the key. Heat is free energy. CO2 is very heat sensitive giving 20% more power on a warm day.

Thanks Timmy. I do all the things you said in your post except take it out when not in use. Guess I'll be doing that from now on.  Looks like I'll be taking this one apart to remove the cartridge.

i had one stuck in a 2260 years ago, tried everything, had to take it apart.

They are Custom Shop guns. The rifle came out after tapping on it and dry firing it. The pistol will need taking apart.

Just sat down after supper to start taking the pistol apart and it just falls right out. Well it's staying out until the next time.

How long was it in there? I leave mine in, but I shoot almost every day... I read that keeping the system under pressure is actually good so no dirt will enter

I put mine in the freezer for a couple hours in a zip lock freezer bag and the cartridges always come out after..

Maybe 6 months. I thought you was suppose to leave them in to. Just going to have to stop after I empty one so I can take it out before I store it away.

Real easy: Loosen end cap for cart a couple turns...point barrel down and cycle bolt/trigger a few times....(then get small hammer) point barrel down and gently tap the loose end cap a few times..cart should fall out when you remove end cap.
I just now did mine on an empty cart that was in pistol a year or so.
