Mine shoots a bit over 700 with 14.3g pellets.I see others claim over 800.Is mine slow or are theirs fast?

Hi George,
The answer isn't always that simple. Yours is probably average. Advertised velocities are BEST CASE scenarios. If you are on a quest for maximum power, step over to the DARKSIDE where you take some control over it. With break-barrels, chronographs can be your best friend or worst enemy depending on how you use it. Baseline velocity measurements are good to have in the event you experience performance problems, and they are essential when tuning -- measure before and after. However, what should be the main concern is: How does it shoot? Is it accurate? Is it hold-sensitive? How smoothly does it function? If on the other hand you shoot over a chrony consistently, you can lose your mind chasing numbers. If it functions well, operates smoothly and quietly, and you can shoot it accurately, then my advice to you would be this: don't concern yourself too much with how your velocity numbers compare with others' guns. Gas rams (and metal coil springs), though manufactured to similar standards, will vary from gun to gun. Some will shoot faster, others will shoot slower. And don't always believe what others claim...

I am happy with the velocity and accuracy. i just have seen some guys post 800fps+ with untuned rifles and the same weight pellets.I used a Pact Model1 and Oehler 35 and both showed 720 fps so i am certain of the velocities.I was just curious.thanks for the reply.
The rifle for me is very hold sensitive but i have it figured out.I have a PCP but in the field on long walks i prefer a break barrel(no pump or spare tank needed) and the Benji NP is nice and quiet.

Just for reference, here are some velocities of my totally stock Trail NP AW:
CPL - 14.3 gr - 742 fps - 17.49 fpe
FTS - 14.66 gr - 724 fps - 17.07 fpe
JSB Jumbo - 15.89 gr - 646 fps - 14.73 fpe
RWS MK - 14.0 gr - 744 fps - 17.21 fpe
H&N HP - 12.65 gr - 780 fps - 17.09 fpe
Most of these were after a couple hundred shots. I don't think that I saw any velocities higher than this in the PA reviews for the AW. I think that most were around 720 with CPL. I don't remember the hardwood reviews.

Mine shoots 744 fps with CP Domed 14.3 and I've been told that's about average. The guys shooting 800+ fps probably have tuned guns.

The box my NP All-Weather came in says it has 21 fpe. My velocity readings follow what you say you get, slightly above 700fps, depending on pellet weight. I've seen Trial NP boxes that says 28 fpe. If that is so, then the difference in velocity would follow also.
