New .30 cal Barrels for JSB Pellets

I have a .30 ST on the Boss but have not had a lot of time shooting my .30 mrod yet. Waiting on a CF wrap for the barrel to come in and then the testing can start.

I'm fully impressed with these barrels.  My Rainstorm will shoot sub moa @ 100 yards with the JSB 44 gn.  I think the cast 70 gn boattail designed by rsterne  will shoot darn near MOA, possibly better but have been short on ammo and time to work with them enough.  I just cast some tonight, hopefully I can test them in the next few days. Thanks for the feedback, Tom.... You are confirming what others have found, that the barrel we designed is MOA capable with the JSB pellets.... I look forward to your results with the Bob's Boattails and hope they confirm Sean's results which equaled or bettered the FX (JSB) pellets he tried at 50 yards....

A quick 60 yard target with last nights cast 70 gn BBTs (Bob's Boattails).  The conditions were a moderately windy and rushed.

I knew I blew #3 before it hit the target.  The target says .300 CTC but 300 is the caliber an the CTC is ~.375.  If you throw out #3, it's clear that this combo can shoot sub moa at 60 yards.  I'll do a 100 yard in few days when I'm not so rushed and the conditions are better.

This target told me what I needed to know.  These bullets have potential   Excellent job Bob!

Yes, Excellent.  Mike at TJ's makes a sweet barrel, both Sean and Bob have done excellent homework.

I still haven't lead lapped it yet or cleaned it since the initial install.  The amazing fact is that it shoots the JSB's even tighter.  Too bad they are only 44 grains.  Maybe we'll get a 30 cal heavy in the future, they can call them  Czars since Emperor is already taken

One other interesting note.  The gun was zeroed for the JSB at 60 yards, notice the POI is over 2" higher with the BBTs.  Superior BC?  I'll run it through Chairgun for giggles.

I'm calling the 30 cal RS2 officially finished and moving on to the 357.

The BC should be a lot better on the BBTs, but you need two POIs and a scope height to use ChairGun to calculate the BC.... The further apart the POIs the more accurate the result.... Chairgun's BC widget is set up for the closer POI to be "zero".... Incidently, the theoretical BC for the 70 gr. .300 cal BBT is 0.16 up to about Mach 0.85 (1000 fps).... 

I would assume the JSBs were cranking out a lot faster, so should have hit higher on the target.... likely some sort of recoil / barrel effect....

Retained velocity 91.4% or 800 fps
Retained energy 84% or 99 fpe

44gn. JSB @100 yards, BC .040, fps = 980
Retained velocity 71% or 698 fps
Retained energy 51% or 48 fpe
Drop 24"

Pellets or bullets, the 30 cal is quite amazing and makes a great hunter.

If I could get the BBT up to 950 fps.........

No I haven't.  Are they they Daystate brand from AoA?   PA only sells one flavor.

JSB also sells them branded as their own for much cheaper. Precision Airgun and supply carries em.

Hello, I've seen the CF on barrels before, they look sweet! I'd like to ask you more info about them? Such as where would you get it and how to attach? Maybe could you post a picture of your gun set up when you get it? A shrouded gun like the Mrod would look sweet with CF wrapped around the shroud!

I think you misunderstood me Laz. The carbon fiber wrap I am talking about is a tube that slips over the barrel and is then epoxied on. This is strickly for stiffening the barrel and has nothing to do with shrouding or looks. Thanks
