Question on Super Streak stock

Has anyone refinished one? I just sent my 0.22 SS to Ed Ehrisman for a tune and I want to change the existing stock a bit. What I'm thinking of doing is removing the opposite side of the ambidextrous cheek piece (I'm a righty) to make the gun RH only and build in a rolled comb and recontour the edge profile of the remaining cheek piece.

I also want to strip the stock of the brown finish and apply a charcoal grey color. I've heard that the finish on the Marauders is nearly impossible to get off and I was wondering if the same is true for the Super Streak since it's a Benji, too. If I have to sand it a lot to remove the finish, I might have to deepen the 'engraving' or 'checkering' since it's shallow...I can do that, it's just meticulous and time consuming.

Lastly, I was wondering if anyone has bedded in a stock on a magnum springer like the SS? My gun appears to only be held by the mounting screws and I just can't help but believe that a proper bedding in of the mechanicals to the stock would help with transferring vibrations from the shooting cycle to the stock more efficiently, thereby helping to dampen the recoil a bit. Am I crazy thinking this?

not as hard as the maurader finish, but still a bit of a pain, easy to keep the checkering, just use a cabinet scraper and go over it lightly.
