After lurking for a long while I have narrowed my airgun search down to the R9 or HW97k in .177. I currently shoot a 747 pistol in my back yard and am wanting to get an air rifle also. I will be shooting at a max of 30yds and most of the time 20yds.
I want to purchase something of high quality that will one day be passed on to my new grandson
My question is, should I go ahead and get the elite version of one of these rifles with the 4-12x40 Bushnell scope or should I purchase the gun and another scope separate? I would like to stay in the $150 to $200 dollar range but if there is not much to be gained above the Bushnell scope I'll just order that and save $25 bucks or so there..
Your suggestions and advice on quality optics in this price range is appreciated.
Thanks
Roy

The Bushnell scope is a good scope. Glass is clear and they focus well. I have the 6-18x50 and have had no problems.
I have also read there warranty service is very good if you did have a problem.
BTW I vote the 97K

Have you considered the 77 or 95? This way you can shoot with open sites as well as using a scope. Another vote for an under lever.

Well nothing to it now except waiting for the UPS delivery next week.
Went ahead and ordered the HW97K Synthetic in .177 with the 4-12x40 scope. Could not find anything that would leave me to believe the scope is not a decent performer.
I'll post some Pics when I get it un-boxed.
thanks

The HW97K is a wonderful, extremely accurate rifle. You made an excellent choice.

I'm just glad so many people post here. I've learned a lot about these guns hanging out here for several weeks.
I haven't been to the Gun range for a few years and my other weapons just set here and rarely get used. We started shooting the air pistol pretty regularly over the last few months. The neighbor stops by or the son in-law and we have little mini matches in the back yard. Makes for a nice afternoon.
Maybe I'll find an FT match in the north east Florida area in the future but haven't seen anything yet.
Needless to say I'm pretty excited about getting a well engineered airgun to add to the backyard fun.

Congratulations on the new rifle!
You couldn't go wrong with either of those rifles but the under lever will make for a great target gun. Good choice on the glass as well. Bushnell makes excellent scopes.

Normally I wouldn't get the package deals cause most are cheap scopes but that bushnell sounds like a sweet deal!

I have a Nikko on my HW97. Both are fantastic. Only thing to make it better is to get it professionally tuned. Mine is super smooth with almost no recoil.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Impatient behavior is kicking in already. Got home and checked for Tracking info, nothing there
I didn't expect it to be due to the 10 for 10 check it goes through before shipping. Sure can't fault a guy for checking though.
Immediately went and got the pistol and went through about 50 rounds before dark to relieve the anxiety.
I fell a little better now! Off to research best variety of pellets to run through both guns.
I'll certainly post some pics when it arrives.
