Thanks for the update, Eric!
I believe you now
Eagerly awaiting pics...
BTW, don't worry about damaging the Leupold, clamp down on that sucker and drive it like you stole it! It has a lifetime warranty for me even though you bought it
If you want a scope that reaches out more, the next step up in the Leupold line is a huge jump to 6.5-20X40 EFR Target. I wish they had a middle-road scope like an EFR in the 4-12X range. They are expensive buggers but you get what you pay for. Can you imagine the weight of that RX-2 with another scope? It would weigh a TON!
No matter how big you are (I'm no little guy either), it wears you down after a while.
One thing I can suggest for that mammoth is to get a sling for it, works GREAT in the field for carrying that thing. Not sure what's available these days but mine wears the old Uncle Mike's swivel sling set.

Niko -
Sling already installed. I agree - its a heavy gun. That said, the sling will certainly be high value.....
I did a smidgy more work today. For making 22+fpe, its shooting nicely and we're getting along better every round. Niko, I gotta say, darn impressive groups at 20! I was working on ragged 1holers today at 22yrds but no where near like that.

I have two glossy and three matte Leupys. The glossy has thick reticles and the matte is the fine reticle. I really like the look of the matte on the rifles, I didn't think I would but it looks pretty mean.
You did very well in choosing that scope.
The glossy is classy looking!

Interestingly enough - the big RX2 kicks enough to actually cause the zoom ring to back off when shooting. It's not overly bothersome but certainly indicative of what's going on during the shot cycle...
Reset my scope yesterday and locked her down real good and was shooting .25" groups at 22yds in the gustly 30mph winds. Pretty darn good I thought!

Eric,
the shot cycle will be much smoother at 20fpe.
22fpe sounds a little too hot and that might be causing the scope's zoom to be backing out. My zoom ring hasn't budged in 16 years but my rifle is pressurized for 20fpe.
Sounds like the shot cycle is a little harsh on that one.

What pellet are you using to get 22 fpe with your RX Eric? Niko is right about setting the ram to 20 fpe. Makes for a much smoother shot cycle. If you haven't already, find a pump and adapter so you can experiment with different ram pressures and different pellet weights. I will caution you right now not to shoot light pellet with a ram set to high pressure as all you will acheive is a fried piston seal. I like shooting he heavy weight pellets at lower velocity. My .20 RX1 is set to shoot 14.3 Benjis at around 13 fpe. I have plenty of room for more power, but for what I use it for, there isn't much need for more. At 20 yards it will still knock the snot out of a squirrel. Have fun with your new bbgun!!

Mine is as delivered from the factory (purchased through straight shooters). I hate to mess with her as she's shooting so well but I am a little worried about burning up the piston seal. That said, she's shooting JSBs very well currently and probably have ~200rds through her now.
Its currently shooting .20 JSB Exacts - 13.73gr @ 860fps and the lighter H&N FTTs and Been an FTSs - 11.4gr @ 920-930fps.
I'm pump and adaptorless currently so no adjusting being done. I did order a spare seal through PA - though a different composition (green).
Pics coming.

Eric, Tom is right about the piston seal getting cooked. Just shoot heavies for now until you let some of the gas out. You don't need a pump, adapter or anything to let some gas out. The large screw on the back of the action gives you access to the valve.
Just something to think about, I wouldn't run mine at that high pressure and Tom runs his very low for smooooooth shooting. Your accuracy will go up with a little less gas in it since the shot cycle will be tamer.

You would know if the seal gets cooked by the eventual loss of velocity and big deviations. Keep and eye on it, maybe it'll settle down but just shoot heavies for now.

Are you experiencing any heavy dieseling with the 11 grainers? Any burnt smell of lubes or plastic. If not, shoot them if you like the high velocity. But I think you are getting much better use of the power plant with the jsb's doi g over 22.5 fpe from your given numbers!! Do t be afraid to shoot the heavier stuff at lower velocities. The ram can handle the load much better than springs over the long haul. I have a mb on mine right now but have been thinking about reinstalling the front globe and going scopeless to lighten the over all weight. How do you like the laminate furniture?!? Gorgeous isn't it?!?! Other than the weight of these monsters, I wish they made a left hand trigger guard replacement. If you ate happy with the gun as it is continue to shoot it and have fun. Later on if you decide to let any pressure out of the ram, go easy and a little at a time. Just remember, you will need a pump and adapter to charge it back up. They are well worth the investment for any RX/90 enthusiast. If you have any questions or concerns about your gun, don't hesitate to ask them on the forum. Lots of good people out there to help and share their experiences with these rifles.

Tom,
I've been shooting only the heavier JSB's with her right now. I've also got some Kodiak's as well that I'm planning on shooting this weekend to see how they work out. As it stands, no dieseling that I can tell. seems to be working well with this confguration. I would completely agree - I am getting great output from this powerplant and the JSB's. Coupled with the .20cal - I think it's a very solid match.
That said, I'm not at all adverse to pulling some pressure out of the ram and backing her down closer to the 20fpe number. I'm an accuracy guy so if it smooths the shot cycle some and improves consistency. I'm certainly good with that. It's generating plenty of energy so pulling it back some shouldn't affect it much at all.

I've been doing lots of digging around looking for information on the RX2....
Interestingly enough, my RX2 has the ram pressure listed at 26bar max etched on the receiver. With how hot mine shoots, would be interesting to grab a .22 barrel to try ;-)

Hi, (my first post in this forum)
Is the RX-2 in .20 less particular about pellet choice than the HW90 in .22?
I would like to get an RX-2 in .20, but the limited variety of pellets, and the absence of pellets with variable head diameter makes me hesitant. I have had an HW90 for a few weeks, and it will only shoot a very small selection of pellets accurately (H&N FTT 5.53 primarily). I noticed in a post on this thread that someone mentions the .20 JSBs as good candidates (I found the JSBs not to work at all with the HW90 .22) - thanks for the feedback!
