I just got this rifle back from my buddy and decided to tear it down. What a cheap, poorly made gun ! The mainspring guide is plastic, the ends of the mainspring are not ground flat they are just cut off and sharp. Apparently they have been digging into the washer and piston. All of the edges of the cylinder are sharp and rough. Very little lube in fact it looks like regular grease not moly. Looks like I've got a lot of work ahead of me. Oh well, it's a good learning experience. The funny thing is I've had this rifle for quite a few years and shot a lot of rabbits with it. I just didn't know how an AG was suppose to work until I joined this forum and learned all the right info. Wish me luck.

These airguns are definitely diamonds in the rough. I suspect the lack of attention to detail MAY be one reason Daisy/Winchester/Powerline cancelled their contract with Hatsan and moved production to China. I have several of the Hatsan built airguns and they most defintely need some attention. BUT, they are very hard hitters and in most cases, very accurate. Two big pluses for them and what makes them worth spending a little time cleaning up. The trigger is the worst I've ever used in any airgun. From the factory they generally have around 12-14 pound trigger pull. With some gentle work and Moly, this can be brought into a more usable range. I have some of mine in the 2-3 pound range and have even cut replacement trigger blades to replace the plastic fantastics.
Keep us informed on your progress. There are several posts here that Gene and I have made while tinkering with these.
SAFE & Happy Shooting!!!!

I've been polishing and filing and sanding and cleaning all morning and I've made some good progress. I ground the rough ends of the mainspring and have them all polished smooth and fitting the piston and the rear washer nice and even. I might even put it back together this afternoon to see what I've got.
Dave, you mentioned working on the trigger to get a lighter pull, I looked in the GTA library and couldn't find yours or Gene's post on this, can you tell me where to look? I thought of countersinking the adjustment screw a little to gain some movement there as when it's screwed all the way in now, it doesn't do a darn thing to change the pull. Thanks.

You can do a search or an advanced search. I plugged the term Turkey in along with my handle and here is some of the ones I found.

OK, I put it back together and what a difference!! Much, much quieter, less recoil . I put a front sight back on it and I'm getting 1" groups @ 20 yds with the open sights so far with Crosman Premier Hunting 7.9 gr. It 's getting an avg of 887 fps for 30 shots. I avg 865 fps before the lube. I haven't done anything to the trigger yet but I'm more than satisfied with performance so far.

Don I have one of them that shadow did a tune job on. Trigger still heavy but very predictable and boy does this gun shoot. these are truly a diamond in the rough. Too bad they are no replacement triggers for them. I checked with shadow and he said they were none. Do your part and they shoot dime size groups at 20yds.

Dave Dez, Do you have a source of supply for parts for the Turkish model 1000S? Just o-rings, the air cylinder plunger and spring depressor. What is this 'moly' grease you mention? I hope your not going to say Pyramyd Air as I written them and they have not replied.
If these guns are as bad as you describe I may need to bite the bullet and devote some time to going thru it to correct the lack of credible workmanship. Wish a decent air rifle could be had for 100$. But this seems wishful thinking. Yet laying out 500$ to obtain a decent one is out of the question. Thanks, OM

Parts for these is kinda tough. You can get SOME parts from Daisy. But your best bet would be to contact two folks. I'd suggest our very own vendor Dennis Baker of Baker Airguns to see if he has or can get parts. Also check with John Groenewold of jgairguns.com. Hatsan made these under contract but when the contract expired and Daisy moved production to China, Hatsan must have gotten really upset because they flat out refused to support them in any way. They will not help with history, documentation or parts.
As for the Moly, check with James Maccari at airrifleheadquarters.com for a lube kit. James probably carries a main seal also. As far as O-rings, which ones?

Ok, thanks. This is a big jump start and I'll be moving on to these gents. The seal I was thinking about was the main air seal on the plunger.
As this is what most gentleman replace on these rifles. Thanks again, OM

I also have one and when I tore it down the first time I found the same thing. That was 8-9 years ago and after tuning it "my way" I have awaken a beast. Cronies around 1040-1050 fps with 7.9 cphp and after fixing the crown on my barrel this passed weekend it is now grouping less than .5" at 25 yds. Like they said a diamond in the rough. But worth working on.

I had the same issue with my hatsan 125. Spring was digging into the plastic spring guide so I installed 2 washers on the bottom to take the beating. Grind, polish and lube and it calmed down and got less hold sensitive. I should have gotten tar for that spring instead of using engine prelube which runs. Fortunately, the 125 came with the quattro trigger. Sounds like the trigger on the 1000 is as bad as the one on my remington 597 .22 lr. Feels like the safety's engaged when i'm pulling it!

There are three different threads on the first two pages of turkey gate on Daisy/Winchester 1000's made by Hatsan. I've got one each from pawn shops lately for $35 and $25 and found several on gunbroker. I'm wondering if these guns are going to take the place of B3's in "learning to tinker on air guns world".
I mentioned earlier what I did to the Daisy 1000. The spring ends on mine were not ground smooth either. It had a metal top hat on the front end and two thin washer on the spring guide behind the spring. Don't know if they are factory or add by someone. Cleaned and mollied them lightly.
I said I got the main spring and piston seal from Air Rifle Supply, I meant AIR Rifle Headquarters. The spring was an E9870 euro universal-Bam-chinese-Win 1000. The seal was a Hatsan 95-striker- win 1000. With shipping $33. Hard to believe all that spring went in there. 1150 fps with 4grs alloy and 880 with Meisterkuglen 8.2 grs. Four pellets made one hole with a flyer half inch away.
I mention replacing the trigger spring with an ink pin. I thinking now I also replaced the sear spring between the upper and lower sear with a shorter spring from a Gamo Slient Cat or B3 rear sight. It was shorter and softer and went in and stayed in place easier. replacing those two spring together may have helped with the 2lbs trigger pull. I don't touch that trigger till I' ready to shoot. Touch it a little to hard and it's going off. Later.
