Actually in this case both lost.   Yesterday morning just before sunrise,  my youngest son witnessed the car ahead of him hit a large buck at about 30 mph.  Car was totaled and the buck was knocked into the ditch dead.  The driver, a woman, was upset but otherwise unhurt.  The deer just ran from the woods after some does and failed to heed the old advice of " look both ways before you cross the road."
Anyway my son loaded up the deer and took it to the processor that we use.  And I'm now the proud owner of 30lbs of venison hamburger.  Going to have some made into sausage. Not exactly a "freebee".  Paying 1/2 of the processor fee.

The deer was a nice 9 point.

He offer the lady any?  She should have had first pick.  After all, she tenderized it.  Used a Honda?  Hmmmmm, not too shabby.  Around here we prefer a Suburban.  "Use enough ton."

Had a neighbor once from WVA.  He was sitting on his front steps, head in hand.  My dad asked if anything was the matter?  He pointed to his station wagon to where the right front fender was crushed in and said he had hit a deer coming back from a family visit.  The WVA state police trooper who came to the scene told him he could have it and gave him a note because deer were out of season.  So he tied it to his roof rack.  Got stopped again in WVA, twice along Skyline Drive in Virginia and three more times after leaving the park.  A buddy took it to the packing plant and they split it.  Said his wife cooked venision for supper that night but his kids had just come back from the movies.  They were sitting around the table, crying "Daddy killed Bambi!  Daddy killed Bambi!"  Poor guy was waiting for his friend to come for the other half.  So he was out a fender and dinner.

RF, a large SUV would have been my choice.   I doubt the 2010 Accord will be repaired.
And he actually asked the lady if she wanted the deer before he loaded it up.  She said  something about not wanting to see the d*mn thing.
We do have the rack hanging on a barn wall.  Nice 5x4 rack.
