Just read through the hunting regs for the state of South Carolina.
Can't find any mention for ag use for hunting on state or private land.
Can one of the more experienced enlighten me.
Many thanks

I just asked the same question about WMA airgunning on the SC outdoors forum, it appears that on private land you can do it with just a regular hunting license requirements but for WMA you have to have the wma permits...

Don't see where you can even hunt on private land with an ag. May just be someones opinion or wishful thinking.
I don't see where the regs specifie. I looked 'till my eyes bled (lol)
A call to the S.C. DNR might be helpful. (or not)
I understand that any hunting will require a license. Evidently mine will only cost about nine bucks.
Will be moving to S.C.
Thanks for the site OleTomCat.

I purchased 2 1/2 acres in Lexington County with my daughter who is presently a resident.
Used to visit every second year and decided to make it permanent.
Hope to do a little homesteading.
And yes, it is a beautiful state.

Good news OTC.
Called the SCDNR and spoke to a nice lady in the regs department. She pretty much read me the law as regards state managed land. Advised me that they do not regulate privately owned land and if I needed additional information, she would forward my call. She then connected me with law enforcement.
Harley confirmed that it was ok to use an air rifle on private land and said that there should be no problem using a 22 ag on regulated land. Discussed 22 cal specifically as the WMR speaks of 22 cal rimfire for small game use. Naturally, a hunting license is a requirement.
Interestingly this gentlemen was not aware that they were making air rifles in 22 caliber. So we had a pleasent conversation about ag's.
Friendly and helpful public servants in S.C.

I've looked at their regs too. It is really weird that they don't mention air rifles. I took one over hog hunting once, but never used it. I'm guessing though on private land it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Many thanks OTC.
I'll do just that.
It will probably be that long for me to get set up.
So much to do.
I'll put my house here in Florida up for sale first week of January.
The proceeds will go to my S.C. home.

Atchman2-
Its possible that the regs are fairly old and they just carry the same ones from year to year.
Possibly when they were written, there was no consideration for air guns, simply because they were not that visible at the time.
I thought it interesting that the officer that I spoke with, was not aware that air guns could now be had in 22 cal.
Cheers!
