2.5 year old stoeger x10

as some of you know,ive ran my x10 hard.i stopped counting rounds about a year ago at 5k rounds.
heres a review i left on it.

it was time for a new stock,i had a nice titan that suddenly didnt like the new batch of cphp's.i only shoot cphp's for their cheapness....and availability.
so i have a titan stock,had to mod the stock slightly....only for the rear safety to clear.
later on i may throw in the np,and titan safety....they are both b19 platforms.....both china guns.

i shoot from a old tin that sits outside,gets filled with rain and debris....my guns shoot them well....except the titan right now.
@15 yards with a &^^& 3-9x40 cp scope that poi shifts every few mins.
still a dime shooter....but can do better.later on ill throw my utg 4-16x50 and some fresh cphp's for better results.

the device on the barrel serves a few purposes
1- barrel weight/and barrel grip
2-my own design front ported air stripper,dirrects the air away from the pellet once it leaves the barrel.
it works well,my groups improved,dont know if was just a fluke....but without the stripper my average fps is 920 ish...with it im in the 940ish range.
seal and spring are all stock,never been pulled down or modded.

gonna swap back to the stoeger stock,re stain it in walnut,install nitro piston and new seal....lets see what i can come up with.my own debur,lube...ect.
a slow build i guess.

Nice! I really want to mod an X20s... I still have my 2.5 year old Stoeger x10 .177... I never had the chance to break mine in because I felt it was too loud for my neighborhood. One of these days I'll take it out in the boonies and shoot a tin through it...

I really like them X10's.  Stoeger's barrels are shorter and stocks are nicer than pretty much all the rest of the B19's out there.  I love carbines, the Stoegers are like the carbine version of the B19.  I just wish that the barrels were a couple inches shorter.  And I prefer the plain X10 stocks to the X20 ones, the X10's fit me nicely especially for shooting with open sights.  And there's something about those plain stocks, I just like them.  It will look real nice after you sand and stain her.  Well over 5k rounds, no modifications to the gun- still shooting dimes.  Lots of gun for the money there.

i agree bryan,the original wood x10 cant be beat for the money spent.
may pull her down tonight,debur,hone and install nitro piston using stock seal.
gonna have to order a good b19 seal.

well.....after pulling the x10 down....im impressed....and dissapointed.
bryan,i shared your fate.the spring was broken.the rear cap only poped out about 3/4 inch once unpinned.
my crony has been down for some time.i honestly can say i never felt a power loss.she cocked and fired flawlesly,no noise or creaking or poping...just smoothness.
seal was in almost flawless shape.

i was really shocked on the broke spring.a few mths it was just chance that i lost accuracy after opening a new tin of cphp's that were shinny....i lost consistency in groups.i took for granted it was the rounds.
even with a broke spring....she performed very well.

just debured,cleaned...modified,lubed and installed the np.fired 30 rounds no sights....sounds and feels good.@35 yards the round gets there faster than you can blink your eye.
tomorrow ill try to scope her and lay some groups.

ive installed a used titan ram (est 3k rounds fired) used titan end cap and shim,used titan piston,x10 original seal with thousands of rounds fired.

That's pretty exciting!  First tune, and you did it successfully with just what you've got laying around.  Pretty cool deal.  I can't wait to see how she shoots.  BTW when the spring broke in my old favorite X10, it broke in almost the exact same spot as yours did.  I noticed the poi shofted, so i just re-zeroed it on a golf ball and continued to hunt.  Dropped a squirrel at 40+ yards with that broke spring in there, and a rabbit.  Gun would still pass through a fresh 1" treated pine board (actually measures 3/4") from about 30 yards with CPUM's hehe.  A de-bur and lube tune with a Maccari E3650 and fresh Apex seal and ARH lubes made the gun even better still, and a GRT III trigger better than that.  That's how I became addicted to these things, the Stoeger X10 is where it's at.

and your right about these b19's,a few easy mods will this a laser.
kinda wish i had another x10 to play with.
i have a phantom....but that gun is a different acting b19,long barrel,more power ...ect.

Yeah, and lighter too.  Right now I have an HW50S in my wishlist, hehe, but IMHO a self-tuned X10 with a softer spring is the poor man's version.  Maybe after I get an HW50 I'll change my mind, all I've ever had is Chinese and Turkish springers.  But, the X10's have been the best of them all.  So many good memories with the X10.  I can't wait to see how your rifle groups now, with the nitro piston.  I'm willing to bet she takes the place of your new fraulein for stalking in the woods all day...

sofar shes grouping terrible.i gotta learn her all over again i guess.different shot cycle,she now seems hold sensitive.i dont think the np was a good move.if i can control her after another 2-300 shots...i guess its spring and seal time.

Maccari E3650 spring is where it's at for these guns.  That, or a factory OEM spring.  I'm pretty sure the crosman springs are identical, maybe the Phantom spring will swap directly?

Now, wrap that rest with poly cord -- You might get better groups.

P.S.  My Titan shot even better after 2000 shots -- I know, it's a crazy number, but still.

Have you checked for burrs at the muzzle?  Do your pellets seat flush?

Shooting CPHP's will definitely widen your groups.  Even washed and rinsed CPHP's -- both .177 and .22.  I've found that .22 CPHP's are horrible past 30-40 yrds with my Titan -- Only quarter size groups at 20 - 25 yrds, max -- After that, they spread like wildfire.  Too many inconsistencies in the tins for my liking.

I use CPHP's for plinking, but not to judge my guns' accuracy or for hunting.  The Premier boxed .22 Domes are way better, but pricey.  I'm still a newbie and looking for a budget plinking pellet (and hunting pellet).

Try the tin Premier Domes for plinking with .22's -- I have yet to.  Ballistics prove that they'll be more accurate than CPHP's.

i have a open tin of pellets that i leave outside in the elements for about a year,i dont cover it ....just grab and shoot.
i have plenty new tins...but i like that old one.doesnt make any sense.

I don't know, but I would guess that as picky as my gun is (X20) about pellets, that a change from spring to NP might require a change in ammo.  Mine doesn't like the CPHP's at all and prefers JSB Stratons ($17) for under .5" groups.  Maybe if I put in the Merlin spring I bought a while back, it would shift me (it) back to a cheap pellet?  My D48 prefers CPUM's ($9) to the more expensive stuff.
