Hydrogen and Airguns

For those of you that have not been a member here for long, and as a reminder to those that have, GTA is all about safety first. Bob posted this info as a safety tip and warning for our family members. Some of you read it and appreciated it. Some however, have tossed it about and added comments about OTHER alternative propellants. As Rich said, let's stick with the power source these airguns were developed and tested with, AIR!!!!
Any more comments about using alternatives to air/Co2, nitrogen or helium will be deleted. It's not recommended nor condoned by this forum.

It was not my intention to disuade experimention with Nitrogen or Helium, as they are both dry, and inert.... Hydrogen was my concern....

on a more serious note Bob is 100% correct.
most of the regular members know to only use hpa, nitrogen, or helium, but keep in mind there are lots of noobs that find their way here and take in the info. i regularly see or am asked about using oxygen. which is also a big NO NO.  also regardless of the gas these are very high pressures we are talking about and could be fatal if dealt with foolishly.

ONLY use HPA (high pressure air), nitrogen, or helium in your pcp's. anything else may be your last mistake.

Now oxygen is a big no-no...the steel itself can become fuel with high pressure oxidizer. Nominally safe lubes for air at that pressure will just take off and light the steel...not at all pretty.

Douglas, you are so right! Here is a picture from Pyramyd Air of a Korean gun that some moron tried to return to PA for a refund.  When the truth came out, he had tried to fill it with oxygen!! A good candidate for the Darwin Awards.

This place uses nitrogen to make some pretty wicked chemicals. I'm at a different plant in the area today and everyone within 50 miles felt the BOOM.
