Here's my new modified disco.

Well guys here's my newly mod'd disco fresh from Norm. Sorry the pictures aren't better. I don't have a good camera yet. Norm took good pictures of it but sadly lost them along with his other photos after a malfunction, but he sent some pictures during the mod process beforehand.

First here are my pictures of the disco after Norm did his mods. That stock shines nice and he really smoothed it out since it was rough with scrapes in it beforehand. I have the barrel band over the fill lip to black it out, a sign of future mods to come.






These photos are from Norm of the stock being sanded and coated. The stock has a nice grain that was hidden by the original coat.






Here's the 10yd group using JSB Diabolo Exact Jumbo 15.9gr pellets, and the circle target is 1".    




Here's the 30yd group, and each target block = 1/2". Surprisingly those pellets did not do well in my disco resulting in a 2" group.




So Norm switched to H&N Field Target Trophy 14.66gr pellets and got a 1/2" group next to the few pulled shots that are on the right.

Factory spring from 2k-1k psi with power adjuster at 1/2 turn from coil bind.

Average FPE for all shots was 22.

I was going to get my disco trigger guard, trigger and safety cerakoted in a glossy black finish which would have looked so much better than the plastic and to my knowledge no one has ever done that yet, but after shooting it with the 3 screw trigger mod I decided that I will buy a mrod trigger and guard instead. The pull pressure is good at 2lbs 11oz but I would just personally prefer a lighter pull since I'm one of those that like hair triggers almost, however the disco trigger did not cause pulled shots for me.

I can't say enough about Norm from my experience with him. He is very attentive to questions and I have come to know him as a good guy who is very helpful and does great work where I now have him recommended in my sig. Thank you very much for everything Norm! Pleasure doing business with you.

More pics are coming of a rather eventful screw up on my part, along with more mods that will be one off as well so stay tuned guys.

sweet shooter...I'm going to be ordering a disco in the near future. From what I've been reading since you have a heavy hammer spring you would benefit from filling to 2400

Thanks SD. I think you would need to also get stronger valve bolts for that first before filling to that pressure or you would risk a blow up.


Ok now here's the story on my screw up. I had been stressed from being overwhelmed with several things going on at once during this time, plus I had not slept well so my mind was not working good. It took me awhile to figure out how to put pellets into the mag where it would work right in the disco, so when I finally did I snapped it in the breech and test fired it with my eun jin 28gr pellets. I was shooting a fallen limb and it tore that limb up! Well it got low on power near the end of the mag so I decided to keep shooting niavely believing the mag would empty without problem. Wrong! Unknown to me I had 2 pellets stuck in the barrel and one's skirt was just barely sticking into the mag where it got stuck in the breech with no way to pull it out.

So I decided to get a dremel and sacrifice the mag where I taped the breech and stock so debris would not scrape it, as well as the bolt so it would not sneak back into the mag and get damaged. I was able to cut the mag then bend it with pliers where it would finally pull out. While trying to make sure I did not cut into the breech with the saw unfortunately the saw's mount attachment had been spinning against the breech in places unknown to me until after I was done so there are some grinds in it now. Lesson learned the hard way about the disco when shooting it and working on it: pay careful attention to what you're doing, especially when you're mind is not up to par at the time.

Looking back on it I think a oscillating saw would have been better to use than the dremel so it's body would not have been close to the breech like the dremel was which caused the saw's mount attachment to grind against it unknowingly. I don't believe stronger tape would have protected the breech from being damaged. Well a complete tear down afterward to clean all the plastic debris out of everything and the disco is firing good again minus 1 eliminated mag.

I normally would have been mad at myself for messing up my new disco like that after all the money I've spent on it but that was right when my uncle died too which put everything into perspective for me where I wasn't mad about it. Either way it still looks great and I'll get the breech cerakoted to cover the grinds so all is well.

hopefully rsterne will chime in here.  He knows A LOT more about this than I do.  he ran the numbers and I'm pretty sure that stock valve bolts are good to 2400....if you do the 10/32 mod you're good to 3000 psi.

If going above 2000 PSI the factory Disco gauge should be changed to one that reads up to 3000 PSI in 200 PSI increments so you know exactly what you're at

Here's a better picture of my rifle now that I have a better camera. This picture does Norm more justice than my originals. It shot up to 964fps the other day with 14.6gr h&n ftt pellets. Next on the list will be cerakote on numerous parts.

Nice shine on that stock. That reminds me I need to get a better shot of my stock to show the shine that Norm put on it too. Have you thought of getting your mrod guard and trigger blades cerakoted with a aluminum finish? I think that would match good with your tube, shroud and power adjuster which have that finish. I'll be getting mine cerakoted black where they'll look better and be protected better too.

It takes me 80 pumps to get from 1k psi to 2.5k psi with the disco pump and by the time I get to 2.5k psi I'm wore out from those last hard pumps, especially when I have to do it several times in one day, so I can't imagine how wore out I'd get pumping a double tuber up to that even once. I'd just have to get a tank and call it quits lol. At 2k psi I get thru 2 mags at full power, and at 2.5k psi I get thru 3 mags at full power so that's plenty for me.

Cerakoting was next on my list. Been thinking about trying a gun blue type finish, but the alum one is definitely at the back of my mind. I will start a thread later on the power mine is making after I get some chrony time.

It's probably good exercise, but I bought Grumpy's old Disco and he didn't sell the pump along with it.  I had to opt for a tank.  Local dive shop had a used one for $130 + a generic fill adapter on eBay for $30.  Tank refill is $7.

Ed I have a mrod guard ready to go on it but the stock isn't modified for it yet. I have the mrod trigger adjusted for a short light pull where it feels great!

Here's my disco with the mrod guard on it now. You can see how the stock has a nice shine on it too. Norm did a great job with the stock inletting and epoxy work for the guard and it's screws. It also has a new Centerpoint 4-16x40AO/IR scope as well.

I do too. Looks so much better than the disco guard to me. I'll be keeping the mrod guard. I've spent more than enough money on everything already. Just some cerakote in the works after I get the custom hammer to make it shoot good then it will look like I want it and I'll call it quits.
