How do you hold your HW97?

I have been experiementing lately to find the best hold.  First I am a right handed shooter.  I hold the gun with my support hand with my thumb and index finger on the forearm screws while lightly or allowing the gun actually to sit in my hands heel with light gripping by strong hand in the thumbhole stock.

This is done with my left hand (support hand) lying on a shooters bag.  I try to allow as much of the artillery hold to be there as possible or in other words light pressure on the gun and no firm or cinching down grip being a springer.

I have recently experimented with same setup but support hand lying flat across the shooters bag and laying the guns forearm stock on my left hand flat or palm with my middle finger in the recess of the underlever arm cocking arm.  Seems to work fairly well if not better than my hold above.

Any suggestions from fellow HW97 owners so I can try?

I have the .22 model that has been Vortek tuned as my setup.

As always..........thank you for any feedback.  I figure Bart can lend alot on this since he seems to dot "I's" with his HW97!

How far are you shooting?
I am only asking, cause as a spring gun user, the holds show the errors the further you shoot.
So if you can stretch her out, then mess with holds you will find what works best the fastest.

Keep a check list of holds....
Tight at wrist....loose at fore arm
Loose at wrist and shoulder...loose at fore arm.....which is one of the best.
This will help you narrow down, how that rifle likes to be held in your hands.

hahaha. But seriously. Shooting off my range bag, I just lay the gun on the bag. Left hand (support) I "pinch" the forarm of the rifle forward of the bag. Right hand (business hand) I lightly grip the rifle, breath half way out and pull the rekord. Just the pad of my trigger finger on the rekord.

While standing with nothing to lean on, I will jab or wedge my left elbow into my rib cage and lay the rifle flat into my left hand. Steadys the rifle. Right hand is the same as above. I don't pull the rifle tightly into my shoulder. Just enough to touch my shoulder. This alows for the rifle to recoil forward and aft when the spring is rocking and rolling.
This just how I do it, might not work for you but I hope this helps. BTW mines a .20

Try it without the hand in the way, just lay the rifle straight on the bag. Different then what Tom Gaylord would say but give it a whirl.

I have tried that method and not with great results unfortunately.

Yes, anyone can shoot a springer, with a little practice.

It takes a lot of practice and experience to get crazy tight groups though and consistently.
WE all have to start somewhere, But Mtsheron70 (Mike) is having a problem....He has a springer he wants to shoot as accurately as he does his marauder....This is how I see it.

I say this, cause dang I wish mine would shoot like the fx , That would be sweet.
