Past month the Garage has been ransacked by some critter, cat & dog food storage areas ripped and torn into.
$20 harbor freight wireless motion detector to the rescue

..... 5:35 AM this morning it starts beeping wildly !!
Out the back slider I sneak placing the cat Door blocking panel from the outside .... Wholly *** what a ruckus from WHATEVER is on the inside ?
Go back into house, grab the .22 M-rod and head out into garage from living room ... Big Raccoon !! all of 19 # worth DOI with a Polymag at 10 feet

Wow a 10ft shot! Was it all blurry in the scope? Did you remember to compensate and aim about 2" above its head? I guess you must have

That's a good size bandit. Nice job. Did you find out how it was getting into your garage? If one got in, more will probably show up. Better cover the floor with a plastic tarp like they do in the movies so you are ready for the next one

Indeed compensated for the distance OR my aluminum garage door would have a hole threw it

Wound you see just behind his mask is Exit damage, pellet went in right under it's right ear exiting low on left side.
Yea with the flips and such had quite the mess to clean up before the wife came out in the AM into the garage

Cure NONE, my cat sleeps in the rafters to avoid the yotes and bob kitties. Tough environment for my best buddy.

Good Job on getting that thief in your garage. I'm glad you got him with those polymags. I love the destruction but I think I have to go back to shooting barracuda's out of my Sumatra. I thought I had it figured out but I just can't get them to fly straight.(Missed 2 Bandits

) But at 10 feet I don't think I would have had a problem lol at least I hope not. Great job.

Happy to see that you got the " Bandit" and one of the reasons they call em Bandit's. The y have the smart's and mask to be a perfect theif in the night. That one looked like it had a beautiful coat on it to bad you couldn't have saved it. Ed

I started using the "Ding Donger" as I called it (because it sounds like "ding dong when it alerts you") in '07-08 for coons and possums in night time operations

The Ding Donger caught on quickly after that, and I think Harbor Freight has sold at least a thousand units to GTA members since.

Yes it is wireless and is called the Driveway Alert System. The range is pretty good. Advertised up to 400ft. I have tested it to 50yds/150ft and it works great. It alerts the receiver unit in your home which takes C batteries, whenever something crosses its path. The transmitter (outside) takes 1 9V battery. A regular Duracell 9V can last about 5-6 months with little to average activity. If you have a lot of activity (like birds, etc.) that set it off frequently, it will then last about 3-4 months tops. I tested this by placing one near the bird feeder and it was going off several hundred times/day. That Ding Donger lasted just over 3 months. I have left them out in the rain, snow & ice year after year, and they still work pretty well except for 1 (out of 3) which goes through a battery every 2 months or much less than the others, so I am not using that one any longer. The receiver is very loud and will wake you from deep sleep at night, so you can shoot the bandit or Country Rat that is raiding your yard. It also has a more quiet setting but that's still loud, unless you throw something on it to cover it up, which is what I do. My wife has pretty much banned them now at night, so be careful if you live with someone. It will wake them up!
The Ding Donger is great for when you have a fight and sleep on the couch
