Excellent!  Very nicely done.  I could see myself doing that, and if I do, I'll know who to ask.  I can get access to a lathe; is that how you shortened the barrels? RC

Man, it's soooo easy, don't even take the barrel off the gun.

Take the CO2 cap off, tape it so no debry gets in, saw the barrel off, a bit of file and sand paper to clean it up a bit off crown work, Done, 10 minutes.

Put the sight back on, CO2 powerlet in and go shoot

i like that stubby with the steel breech.  you could actually holster that. something for the buck mark or the ruger would likely work.

Wow! Love the looks of that thing. Been eye'n a custom shop one for a while now (keep re-building them!) Interested to find out about any changes in power or accuracy. If it's not too bad, I think that'd be a perfect one to carry while out on the kayak!

yes, those are the Disco front sight and the Crosman LPA rear

Didn't notice a loss in either power or accuracy, probably a bit in power but nothing noticeble

One of those guns Crosman should offer for sale...or at least through the custom shop.  Only one part is not already in Crosman's standard production, and they could set their machines to make a run of short barrels.

Basically its an updated version of thier old 150 co2 pistol.  Could offer it as a package deal with a Nylon holster...call it the "Camper" or the "Trail".

if nothing else it would protect me from the onslaught of empty cans when camping. im think the "camper" is appropriate

The 2240 just looks so much better set up like this, they should definatly offer it on the custom shop

that does look so so so much better with that shorter barrel, but i bet its loud and id love to know chrony numbers since its the exact opposite end of the  2240 barrel length power numbers. we know what 18 and 24 inch barrels do energy and velocity wise but not with a barrel that short..

i say it needs some cera kote work done with an nice fancy paint job. black breech, grey barrel, black airtube and grey trigger frame is the route id take..

Haven't tried to speed it up, figuring the short barrel and co2  isn't the combination for that.

Does run about the same as he old Crosman 150, which is what these short guns were made to duplicate.  Call it anything from 440-500fps.

Will work on the dual power idea a bit more...the old 150's usually had two "steps" in the striker.

Hi guys,

I just recently started modding my first 2240 and am constantly searching the web for ideas, solutions and parts. So I came across the fabulous Crosman 2240 Subcompact by Anthony R.  What impresses me most is the 1950's space-age retro look of it, mostly expressed by the beautiful domed endcap by Don Cothran.

So, I started searching for it on his page and on the web. Unfortunately I cannot find anything on that endcap except this one photo of this one fabulous gun. Not even on Don's website. I am beginning to suspect that this wonderful endcap was a once-only effort.
Can anybody tell me somewhat more about this endcap? And possibly on who can supply, make, or sell something like it?

Any info is appreciated, even if it is a confirmation that it indeed was a single piece for this specific pistol. Because then I can stop searching for it . . . . . .

On the other hand, it is such a beautiful piece on the 2240 that it would be a shame if it wouldn't be available to all of us retro style loving people.

Anybody agree? Anybody any idea's on solutions?

If by end cap you are referring to the rear tube plug with the built in power adjuster. Don didn't make the few that I have, I made those for my own builds. The screw in front tube plug, and the St/St tube were made by Don.
