We had our fall Coyotes Unlimited club meeting down at my friend Jake's house. I was in charge of showing the folks about air guns, teaching them how to cock them, hold them, safety, and basically educate them on their use.
I brought some of my targets, but Jake already setup some tin cans. Most of them were at long range, 20 all the way out to 50 yards. I put the cow bell out at 50 yards because it is cool to hear it when it gets hit.
What was neat was there was a slime pond right next to my range. In the pond were at least a hundred frogs! Most of them were about two inches long. We had a blast shooting them! It was almost like shooting prairie dogs. One of us would spot and the other shoot. I even sighted in my TF 99 .22 at "frog hunting" range.
Pyramid Air should pay me for how much air gun promotion I did on Saturday. They really liked the RWS 350. The hit of the group with the young folks was my Gamo Whisper. Mine just shoots so well, that even a person that isn't used to air rifles can hit consistently with it. Also it is so much lighter in weight than the magnum air guns.
I'm for certain going back to Jake's for some serious frog hunting! There were TONS of raccoon and possum tracks around that pond as well. Sounds like time for a night hunt!

I wish that we still had the ol leopard frog here in SE MN. 40yrs ago us kids could go out and catch a 5 gal pail of them. Now, I haven't seen one in almost 10 yrs. The ones you do see are deformed. (no front legs, three back legs etc...) . All thanks to the Atrazine that they spray on the corn fields. The farmers even want it gone cuz they are finding it THEIR wells. It looks like it may be gone in 3-5 yrs. I've been doing plant and harvest work for my Godfather forever and he gave up the Atrazine over 10 yrs ago.

What a waste. Frog populations around the world are declining, even here in the US.

Frogs are the first indicator that your eco/bio system isn't right. Frogs breath through their skin and are a good indicator of water quality.
