Help with HW77 woodwork...
«

I'm giving my stock for my HW77 a once over as the previous owner tried to stain and oil it, and didn't do a very good job.
Ive sanded it down as far as I dare but there are still some stain marks. The next step will be to re-stain it with a dark stain to cover up the old marks.
Can anyone recommend a dark stain for beech? or perhaps recommend another way of proceeding?

One thing I would recommend is to use a pre stain conditioner first. It will make the stain more even.

I used it on a B40 before a spring green stain and it worked well.

A chap on this side of the pond has suggested a gel type stain which looks good. So will give that a go.
