I just popped out the guts of the "muzzle brake" It just pops out with a pry of a screwdriver.
So much for being destroyed if removed!!! Now to make an aluminum or plastic filler!!
Success!!

Is this thing really legal?? I don't need it anyway.

Is that the complete assembly or just the inner part ?

How is it attached to the barrel ?

The housing is most likely on there good,and it would be destroyed if removed.
However the inner baffle and packing just pops right out. Maybe they made it that way for easy
barrel cleaning,or for factory assembly.
I will machine up a solid filler with barrel thru hole of course...just wanted a bit of firing noise.
Just plain great it came out the easy way!!

Just took it out for a couple of shots. Yeah,it is louder and covers up the "twang" of the spring which is what I was hoping for. Hey a beefy air rifle needs to make some noise!
Checked chrony speeds and they are the same.
The insert can easily be re-installed,as no damage to the components.
A bit of engineering went into this thing,as noted by the varying sized holes,the pattern of them and the
chambers on the inside,plus the packing.

Personally, I like the design and the results of the quiteness of the gun with the brake. If you can salvage the shroud I woulld take it off your hands.

Gamo has a similar design. The trail and the Remington share a different design where it exhausts to the barrel shroud.

Plastic replacement machined out of plastic,if you want just a bit more noise...seems to work best without anything...just the barrel end cap,for a finished look and no insert at all. Still not enough to mute the spring sound,upon firing, for my tastes.

Mike got 958 fps with the stock spring 29.15 fpe, using 14.3 gr CPHP's.

Moeller "Red" 900 fps w/ 14.3 gr CPHP's = 25.73 fpe

Moeller "Yellow" Hoping for 1000 fps + w / 14.3 gr CPHP's . . . 31.76 fpe +

The "numbers" predict 1019 - 1029 fps = 32.98 - 33.62 fpe

Based on velocities from 1000 - 1029 fps with 14.3 gr pellets . . . ( Based on 32.98 - 33.62 fpe )

18.1 gr = 890 - 915 fps
21.14 gr = 822 - 846 fps
25.4 gr = 750 - 772 fps

Got my fingers crossed . . .

Well at least you did not have to destroy the outside of moderator getting it off, excellent.
I really like the rough looks of the big moderator

How far does the barrel extend into the outer housing ?

In the pic showing the open front end, the barrel was not visible.

What are the dimensions of the housing ?
