Project 140 Black Wing

The project 140 Black Wing... Born out of necessity.
I got bored.
Had this 140 laying on the bench next to my 1377 carbine....got to thinking how do I get this TKO on my 140? Well ...it wasn't too hard and it wasn't too easy either.
So I tore it down... got a seal kit and 2260 barrel cut and crowned from Allan at AB Airguns
( not a direct fit but easy enough) an early 760 barrel band .
Another member (1377x) was kind enough to sell me a pump tube I desperately needed. Thank you Ed.
A couple of hours in the garage and i'm under way.
More to come.

WOW!
that looks good!
its nice to see the tube get put to good use!
what did it take to mount up the 2260 barrel? how long is it?
i am assuming that new holes had to be drilled into the 760 band.thought about doing the but i had a 1400 band that was opened up to accomodate the longer barrel
what are you going to do for sighting?
with the longer barrel you should see better numbers.

Dangit Petey! Now I gotta go out to the shop to see if my 140L (Long) is still there or if I've been raided!
Your rifle looks virtually identical to one I put together a few years ago----even the parts sound correct. 2260 barrel and an early 760 die-cast potmetal pump-pivot/barrel band with barrel set screw.
If your junker pile is deep enough you can use the early 2 piece barrel/breech with short bolt cover from a 150 that allows use of the pistol rear sight and the rear sight element from various guns that can be inverted to use as a peep-sight to increase sight radius as well.
The only stock I still had appeared to have been 're-finished' using 40 grit sandpaper and used motor oil so I used bedliner to hide the ugly.
Unfortunately mine was assembled from previously condemned parts and I STILL haven't got it holding dependably. Looks like I need to find a slightly better 'junker' for a donor.
One of the best MSPs ever made in the US----reason enough to upgrade them! Tom

weLL ...she's going back in the locker....I spent some good time today trying to get her to group. Nothing doing...Heck at one point it was so far off i hit my chicken coop. I tried at everything I had. best I could do was two in row and then Shotgun.
All I can figure is it has to be flexing when I pump it. Really not worthy because It cost me a few bucks to get to this point.
However: the experience gained is priceless....That's what I'm sticking with.
I'll play with her some when I have more time. Right now I'd rather be shooting than working on AG's.
Happy Shootin!

Don't give up at this juncture!
Take the LDC off and try again, If the same results occur get a stock 2260 barrel direct from Crosman and try it. Even tho I still don't have mine holding properly it is a stone tackdriver.
Some batches of Crosman barrels are better than others but at @ $12 it doesn't break the bank to try more than one. Tom

Maybe the Lead-in??? I had a Crosman barrel that would tear up the pellet skirts when inserted... I taped up a perfect size diameter drill bit to the depth I wanted and had the bit smooth it out, keeping everything perfectly straight...
That HW's gonna spoil you... LOL

my 140 used to chew up the skirts on pellets, but it still shot good.the recovered pellets had a deep groove in it from the head to the skirt, where something in the leade or the rifling was off.

IIRC, the chamber/leade is larger on a 140 than on a 2260 barrel because of the larger bolt and O-ring.... Did you make changes there?....

Yep .. a 8mm bit made that happen....then a dab of JB weld for a ramp to make the pellet feed right in .
