The "Metallurgy"of Air Rifle pistons has never been addressed on GTA, as far as I can tell. With rifle mods on the horizon, it is probably advisable that we do so.

Metals:

1 - Aluminum Alloys
2 - Steel
3 - Stainless Steel
4 - Chrome Moly
5 - Titanium
6 - Tungsten
7 - ?

I really hope that GENE, or one of the other Machinist / Tuners on GTA, will post about this . . . I have no data for our application !

    google  steel  to find some facts, is all i have to do
 it is for making the piece in bottom of the piston  that I will shape with the divot in the middle for the ram to pivit on, I don't like the flat part of the ram just hitting the bottom   being forced to stay centered. i want to see it beveled
I like the ideal of self centering design free to twist in a contoured divot with possibly a delrin internal guide for added measure, crosman beveled  there  gas rams and  piston and  I like that Ideal
