Very much looking forward to your and/or Ed's impressions.  I've been eying one in 177 since I saw my first picture.  My misgivings have been how left hand friendly it would be, extra hassle to load with with the extra bolt device and waiting for some first hand reports.  Glad you have less will power than I do

To me, the Torpedo 100x is the same as the Winchester 1100XSU, but the XSU is .177 and not .22.

It is one of my favorite air rifles to shoot.  It beats all my other rifles on accuracy and stability.  I think, because of the weight, the recoil doesn't affect it as much as lighter rifles.  I love the fact I can load a pellet and be ready to cock and fire when I want too.  I just wish it was .22 and not .177.

I've been worried about the bolt causing issues with these underlevers. Either leaking air or damaging the pellet. Not sure how it feeds into the barrel. Not sure how it works at all for that matter.

From what I see in mine, the inner barrel is attached to the bolt mechanism. The pellet fits nicely into the breech and when you close the bolt, the bolt presses into the seal.  There is an area in the center of the seal where the pellet is, so there is no chance of damaging the pellet even with it sticking out the rear of the breech.

I figured with a moving barrel, there was no way you could get decent accuracy, but somehow Hatsan makes it work and work well it does.  I will see if I can get closeup photos of that area.

So they really are sliding the whole barrel forward?

I really like the look of the Torpedo series from Hatsan,  but I think I'd prefer a swing open breech like Norica makes rather than the slide open  barrel/bolt method.  It definately is  a  big gun...  Congrats...

Yes, the whole inner barrel moves inside the outer barrel, and locks firmly in place.  The tapered section of the breech locks in very tight and doesn't move.

It takes some getting used to, but I really like it. I have about 800 rounds through mine and still cronos way over spec and holds very tight groups.
