Hi everyone,
My name is Nick, and I have been lurking the forum for a few weeks here, and decided to sign up. You guys all seem to be very helpful, and you really know your airguns from what I have been reading.
I'm probably one of the older guys here , I am retired, and age 68, so I have a little extra time to tinker around the house and yard since I don't have to work each day.
I have owned many guns over the years from the time I was about age 12 when my father bought my first Daisy BB gun. I later advanced to a Remington .22 cal rifle and that was at age 16. My dad always sent me to firearms safety classes which were held at the YMCA back in those days, so I have a great respect for any firearm, and use them safely. I own several handguns, and a few rifles, but I only had 2 air guns. One of my air guns was an old old, Crosman 788 pump BB gun, that someone gave me to tinker with and it's small youth gun but it will put holes in targets at 10 yards. My other air gun is a Crosman 1377 pump pistol, which is a nice gun to plink with also.
Recently, I purchased a Tech Force 99 with a scope, and it's a nice gun however it's a little to heavy for me. It's not that I'm a small weakling, but I would prefer to carry something much lighter even for target shooting. I had no experience with pellet rifles what so ever, and I had no idea what the different type of spring cocking guns were like. After much research on the internet, and reading the forums , and watching dozens of youtube videos I decided to purchase a Hatsan Mod 135, and I'm hoping it will be easier loading than the TF 99, I was always worried about the breech letting go on my fingers after I read a story about a guy who bought a Chinese B-3 underlever, and he forgot to hold down the cocking lever, and the guns action slipped, jamming his finger which was almost cut off. So needless to say, from what I've read that underlever guns require a little more caution on loading than do the break barrels.
I tend to like magnum guns, whether it's pistols, or rifles, and I have owned many in various calibers. I realize a magnum air gun is going to be louder, and harder to cock, but that doesnt bother me.
I'm sure I will have questions for all of you to pick your brain on the ins and outs of airguns, and I hope you don't think my inquiries are too silly. This air gun shooting is totally new for me, or at least the more serious aspect of it , that is not just shooting at tin cans and that sort of a target which doesnt take much to hit. I have seen some really good videos on youtube, and I couldn't believe many of these guys were shooting targets at 100 yards with some of these pellet rifles, I was totally impressed at the power of many of these guns.
I look forward to seeing all of you in the forums. Thank you, Nick,

Hello and welcome, sir!
I have to admit my heart gets real warm when I read about Ohio as my deceased wife was an Ohio farm girl, and we spent many a vacation in your wonderful area which she called her home, and might I add my favourite place in your country!
Keep shooting and have fun and you may just learn a thing or two here.
Greetings from Germany.

Welcome to the GTA, Nick. Eric is right, airgunning is addictive. You think you are only interested in one kind of airgun right now but sooner or later you will discover lots of different options that will have you wanting more and more guns. So, pull up a chair and join right in. Good luck and again, welcome.

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks."
