Another neat home shop project

I made a cool handle for my steak flipper.

Cedar, oak, manzanita, oak, cedar, manzanita, and oak. Even made a plug for the back and a genuine Ralph Lauren leather shoe lace(extreme trouble when she finds out!!!)

After cutting it into strips and drilling a 0.2812 hole I smashed it onto a mandrel I made of the same diameter with glue between each piece and chucked it up in the mini lathe.


Then after many many hours of slave labor It began to take shape.





Hit it with 220, then 400, then 000 steel wool and topped it with three coats of polyurethane finish



Turned down a small aluminum plug for the end and drilled it for the leather strap(she may want back?)





All that is needed is to beat the old handle off of the flipper and then glue this one in it's place.

A fun project that gave me hours of stress relief.
