I just bought a beautiful 620 off Craigslist. Its from 1968. Nice wooden stock. I am thinking of replacing the seal and spring but it shoots so nice now I think i will wait a while.

If anyone knows where to get a spring for this rifle i would like to know.

I would add some silicone oil, just a few drops, in through the transfer port and sit it butt down for a day or two to rejuvenate the leather seal. Almost all guns of that vintage will benefit from this.

Pretty sure i did. They did ask if my name was Mike. They had an email from him.
The gun is pretty nice too. He said it was his grandfather's. I have two others but keep coming back to this one to shoot. So smooth and quiet.

Sounds good. I will check Wallmart for the oil. Just where exactly is the transfer port.

The transfer port is the hole in the receiver that lets the air from the spring area transfer into the barrel. If you open the breech, hang onto the barrel and look down into the receiver toward the butt of the rifle, and that's the hole you will see.

Nice rifle. I have a similar one that I received as a Christmas present in '70 or '71. I tore it down a few years ago and was surprised to find it had a synthetic piston seal. I wanted to replace the seal as it had a couple of nicks along the parachute edge, but was unable to find any replacement. Couldn't find an importer over here and never received a response to a couple of emails I sent to the CZ address in Europe. If you happen to find a replacement supplier (or if anyone else knows of one) in the US, I'd appreciate it if you would post that information.

Try Google searching Metura in the Netherlands for a seal. They have them new in stock. You will have to translate the site to English because it is dutch dialect. I ordered a new seal for my 618. I believe they are the same seal.

I checked out the Medura site. Unfortunately, the seal they have for the 618 is different than what is in my 620. I read your other post about restoring your 618 and the overall cost of the seal. Seems way out of whack to spend $35 to get a $0.85 seal (if my currency conversion is correct), but that's the price we pay for not having a US distributor.

I've attached the picture of the 618 seal, an exploded diagram for the 620, and a parts list. My version uses the "18A" seal which snaps onto the end of the piston, unlike the other (leather?) seal which attaches with a machine screw.

I have not received the seal yet but mine snaps on too. If you go to the T.W. Chambers site and look up Slavia parts in the in the airgun spares section you will see the 618 & 625 take the same seal which is not available. They don't list a 620, I don't know why. I am hoping that the seal I bought is the right one and the picture is not representative of what I am getting. They e-mailed me saying it was the proper seal for a 618. The initial cost of the seal was roughly 13 dollars but after shipping cost and taxes on the shipping in came out to about 35 dollars. I hope I can let you know this week how I make out. That will really be an ouch if the seal does not work!

I will be interested to hear how it works out. Mine is a 68 like and I put a few drops in the compression chamber and let is sit butt down for a bit. As suggetsted by Redfeather. It does have more power. I wonder if i have a leather seal.
How hard was it to break it down?
Let us know how it works out. I just have to tell you. I paid $20 for mine. What a deal.

I'm not sure when they switched from leather to synthetic - the exploded diagram shows both configurations, so maybe it was dependent upon the market, rather than a specific date. If you feel you have more power after adding a drop or two of silicone oil, then you probably do have a leather seal.

The gun is not hard to break down. I'd advise using a spring compressor, even though it is a lower-powered gun with not much spring pre-load, as I recall. The endcap on mine is threaded, so you have to gradually back off the tension on the spring with the compressor while turning the endcap.

I've attached a photo of the seal that was in mine.

You might also contact J. G. Airguns. Believe that's John Groenwald (or something close, apologies to JG). They do a lot of rebuilding on old guns. If they don't have the seal/spring, they might tell you where to find them. And ask on the Vintage forum. There are one or two there with soft spots for guns like these.

And I'm going to suggest that you NOT contact him unless you enjoy having your wallet violated!
I ordered a piston seal o-ring and buffer washer for a BSA Meteor Mk5 & an HW-80 breech seal from him last year. The o-ring looked & felt identical to the ones in a Harbor Freight Buna-50 o-ring kit.
By the time he had added on Shipping & Handling and a 'small order surcharge' those 3 items cost me $35 to my door.
Woulda been cheaper to get the from Chambers in England----and you may be sure that is what I will do in the future. Tom

I bought a spring from this indian company for my slavia 620. I had to cut some rings off of it but my gun shoots hard now.
