Very early proto electronic controlled PCP .510 cal

This is from several years ago, my first,  "gracious, it worked!", proof-of-concept electronically controlled PCP prototype.  28", .510 cal barrel.  The tank was only good for 800psi.  It has a high and a low pressure side, but no regulator is used or needed. Shot some big fat bullets, which were loaded by unscrewing the barrel, pushing them into the barrel breech, and screwing the barrel back in.

What Micro Controller do you have hooked up there?

It's a Stamp BS2.  The programing language is a slightly modified Basic, very easy to use.  You hook your laptop right up to it and change the program on the spot.  Easy to do data collection, too, like monitoring pressures, air usage, velocities.

I thought thats what it was. I really like Paralax's stuff. I jave a BS2 on a homework board but that is a pre USB unit. I really would like to play with there Propeller chip.

I have thought about their propeller too, but it's a new language, and I don't know if I'm up for the task.       
My BS2 works with a little $16 RS232 to USB converter cable, so you  don't need an old serial port.

A rotary switch connected to a resistor array, a power or dwell setting connected to a analog input on the uC.
The black box in the middle is a bit of a mystery, maybe the firing switch or battery?  A strange looking switch if that is the case.
An unused set of contacts on the terminal block.  A future ?

Here is what I do see:
A rotary switch connected to a resistor array, a power or dwell setting connected to a analog input on the uC.
===  Exactly,  an RC network to control the dwell time.

The black box in the middle is a bit of a mystery, maybe the firing switch or battery?  A strange looking switch if that is the case.
====  And again, a battery off a drill to power the solenoid (major overkill, but I needed the volts).

An unused set of contacts on the terminal block.  A future ?
====  Bingo again.  That one is just set up as a dump valve thru a QEV.  Circa 2008.  The next version had a second solenoid set up in  push-pull manner.  Actually, we will have to go back to the future on that  one.  I'll look for some more old photos.

Well I may need a hint

Have you done any fun stuff with your Stamp?

Nothing as cool as you, I just used mine for signal lighting when a limit switch was triggered. They are full of possibilities. Once I get moved into the new house the work shop will have a dedicated electronics bench.
