Received the Fenix 400 premier walnut .25 cal from Manou Brothers. I took it for a ride this weekend. I'll keep my comments brief. Overall.....it was an interesting experience to purchase a well constructed Spanish made air rifle. I have a cadre of tuned Diana's and a 25 cal B28 to compare against. The wood work was lovely...the bluing was as good as Diana....the balance and target achieving were good....it was light weight by a pound or so compared to the Dianas....the first stage of the 2 stage trigger was gritty and long however, the second stage was sharp, brisk and light. I replaced my Diana MPC with a 4 x 16 AO Leapers and I took the 3 x 9 AO RWS scope and lockdown one piece mount and successfully mounted it on the Fenix. The fenix has small stop pin holes on a 11 mm dovetail....the stop pin holes will not accommodate the pin on the RWS lockdown mount....however....there is a 'strange' square hole in between the small stop pin holes that did accommodate the RWS stop pin....and held well. I only had the 20 grain FTT which chronyed at an average of 605....with a rather unimpressive 'scatter'. My Mike Melick tuned B28 loves these with a tight pattern...also at 610 fps. I have to figure out now how to get a sampling of lower weight 25 cal to find my tightest pattern. Cocking was not difficult...a slightly different feel than a Diana...report was quiet...
Picture below.....enjoy...

Great looking piece of wood. Those seem to be mighty nice guns. Seems the new Spanish guns are lighter than others. Maybe just seems that way but it's a bit welcome.

That is a very nice rifle.
My Fusion has a similar square hole, I noticed there appears to be some type of mechanical movement visible in the square hole when cocking the rifle. Probably need to be careful the lock pin does not interfere with this movement (assuming you can see this movement).

Thank you all for your thoughts......Do any of the forum tuners know about this square dovetail hole with a cocking indicator? Is this a critical mechanical issue that needs protection otherwise interfering with the sear or other???

Shadow.....not sure if you have worked with the Cometa's in your tuning history....any thoughts on the 'cocking indicator' on the dovetail? See previous notes.........thanks

You need to take a look at this thread:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/thread/1243390031/1243471154/Got+an+RWS+94+with+trigger+issues-+Here%27s+a+possible
I have a couple of RWS-94s and they are the same general design with the same hole. I didn't use them for a stop pin, and if Russ doesn't think you should, it's worth considering.
PS: I am up in Valley Center, and if you're in Escondido I probably pass you on the way to work every morning.

Wow....excellent answer.....I'll need to crank up the stop pin this weekend....the 25 at 605 fps doesn't seem to have much kick so I hope the RWS scope and lockdown will hold tight with the 4 side screws without scope slip.
Also...you're right....lot of us it seems down here in Southern Leftafornia (we're ready to paint our guns orange)....I've already heard from LeadHead who is close by also
Thank you for finding that summary.....now I'm waiting for my 4 different pellets I just ordered from Pyramyd to arrive so I can find the 1 magic one...as the FTT were like a shotgun in this unit yet tight as drum in the B28.

Let us know how it shoots! I am a real Cometa fan, and would love to have a look at that someday. Unfortunately I have not been able to maintain enough contact to purchase one of the close-outs, but I keep trying... dunno what the problem is.
I also have the RWS92 and the Cometa Indian. I am hoping the next generation of the Lynx gets added someday, too, but I'm glad I wasn't one of the first on that one.

A very nice piece of wood that is. I like the Fenix (I have a Fusion myself) but I wish they would sell most variations without the open sights. Maybe reserve one line for fans of iron sights. I'd like to see them get rid of the (ugly IMO) muzzle weight as well, just a nicely crowned barrel muzzle showing would look classy.

Seems I'm late in coming to this party but just wanted to pass on what I read yesterday in a posting in this gate by an owner who was reviewing his Cometa Fusion. I believe he ran into the same scope mounting dilemma, i.e. the scope stop hole was too small in diameter to take the scope stop pin and was considering using the square hole on top of the reciever for the scope pin. I think he went directly to Cometa for an answer and was told by them NOT to use the square hole at all. I believe they recommended that he mill or turn the mounting stop pin down just a tad to make it fit the hole. Apparently the hole is undersized for our stop pins and hopefully will be corrected by Cometa in the near future. I believe that Fusion thread can be found by scrolling thru the postings here. Don't know if this will help or add to the Cometa scope mounting discussion but wanted to offer it in case someone else had a Cometa with the same problem. I think I'll be getting a Fusion as my next AG and am glad I know about this little problem going in. Scope mounts are cheap compared to the gun itself and more easily and safely modified to fit one small stop pin. Hope this helps. Now that I want one of these I'll be looking for more and more postings on what seems to be a very nice gun.

When I get to scoping it, I will grind down stop pins to fit the two holes there for that purpose. I didn't know they were undersized, but at least they are there.

The square hole is part of the trigger system and I wouldn't use it as a stop pin hole. Ive tuned them and have a RWS 94 which is basically the same thing. Ed

Shadow is right, the rectangular hole is part of the trigger(safety) mechanism. Milling the end of a stop pin is the way to go to fit one of the two small round holes in the receiver, but be sure not to make the milled-down piece too deep or it will foul the internals - about 2mm is OK.
The trigger on my Fusion was similar to the OP's with a long, gritty first stage pull. To fix this I stripped down the trigger unit and lightly stoned and polished the contact surfaces (sears). It was well worth doing - it's a nice trigger now.
