B-rod is finally done

Been a long time coming, but I finished building my Bottle Rod. Custom designed the parts myself and outsourced the machining to a company, Parts Badger, online. Time will tell how things ultimately work out, but so far I'm happy with how it turned out. Not the prettiest work on the stock but I care more for function than looks anyway. Getting closer and closer to my ultimate goal for the rifle.

Thanks yall. Love how many things you can do to these guns. Once I figure some more things out I got a tensioned barrel in the makes. It will shorten overall length a bit. On top of that, the adapter I've designed for that will double as a moderator adapter. Excited to see how it turns out.

The tensioned barrel happened quicker than I thought it would. Had all the parts I needed, just was trying to figure out how best to thread the barrel. I got my moderator in the mail yesterday and got super itchy to make it happen. Ended up rigging my drill press into a makeshift lathe. Used a 7/16-20 die to thread the barrel to match the adapter I designed. Then cut the shroud to length. Bit nerve racking but it all worked out in the end.

For the future ...
You could have NOT threaded barrel taking the chance of choke opening up or getting threads out of square etc by ..... making the air stripper a slip fit over barrel secured with red 271 loc-tite or 641 sleeve retaining compound.
As such there is no way in a tensioned set up stripper could get pulled off !!!

Liam, nice to put the barrel in tensile / tension. It seems that this is much better than the slight compression that Crosman uses. Your adapter looks nice too.
I look forward to the accuracy testing.

Fair enough. I figured this would be the easiest way of putting tension on the barrel and still be able to easily disassemble everything if needed. I don't claim to do everything the best way though, that's for sure. Can't say I wasn't concerned about how it was going to affect the crown, choke and etc. Luckily everything seems straight and otherwise OK.

 I have been debating on getting a Lothar Walther barrel done up and may go back to the drawing board if I do. We'll see how satisfied with it I am. With the porting, huma reg, and ssg I made it has the consistency, efficiency, and power I want. Now we'll see if I've improved accuracy, degraded accuracy or if it stays the same as it was.

Thanks, had fun teaching myself solidworks to design both it and the bottle adapter. Excited to see how it affects everything.

Always a pleasure to hear about a marauder build. I'm looking forward to hearing some numbers and accuracy too. I've got a brod that's been in the works several different times. These guns are very versatile.

Finally got down to Utah Airguns to do some indoor tests of my accuracy now with my current mods. Happy to say everything was a success. More consistent accuracy now from what I've seen. Definitely didn't hurt accuracy at least. All shots were at 33 yards.

First two groups, 5 shots each

One full sheet firing one shot each, almost as quickly as I could. Forgot to take a picture of the chronograph I was using, but the standard deviation was about 2-2.5 fps. The spread was about 8.

Nice groups. I'm sure they will tighten up even more once you shoot the gun more. Those bullseye shots were dead on at the tail end!

Yea gave the barrel a deep clean while I had it out so it's still leading in. Excited to see how it gets once all said and done.
