TX200 Spring Preload

I was watching a video on installing a Vprtek kit in a TX200 III
I was amazed at the relative lack of mainspring preload, and that only 1 stud held the whole shebang together.
The dude pushed down on the butt plug to offload the main spring for disassembly,
and held the new Vortek spring down in a similar manner to install the Vortek spring.
Amazing..........

My TX200 is the same, Also my Walther LGU.
Just hold end down, and push in or push out the pin.

I don’t know what video you were watching about taking the TX200 apart and installing a spring kit but it doesn’t work the way you describe at all…
After removing the stock, you use a 10mm wrench to remove one very large bolt that holds the trigger group to the receiver.
Do this while keeping vertical pressure on the back of the trigger group.
When the bolt is removed the trigger can be removed and the spring and spring guide (or complete VORTEK kit) can be removed from the piston.
Installation is just the reverse…Align the trigger group to the back of the spring assembly (or VORTEK Kit) and again while applying vertical pressure toward the back of the trigger group turn the 10MM through the trigger group into the receiver. Then reattach the stock and voila, you are shooting again.
More actions are required to completely dis-assemble the TX200.

I probably messed up the thought process here by talking about moving pins in or out on my LGU..
But I was agreeing on the topic of very little spring preload on the TX200 (and my lgu)

I agree there is little preload but I like to use a spring compressor anyhow. If you accidentally put side pressure on the stock mount bracket you stand an excellent chance of breaking in - it's pretty flimsy and made out of very soft metal. I had a custom bracket made for my TX 200. The compressor makes it much easier to align the trigger group "just so" for the bolt threads, too.

I have three.
I bought mine in 2013 after my friend in Kansas bought his in 2012.
I bought one from Mike in Pasadena two years ago because he discovered springers were not for him.
Just after I bought that one, my friend in Kansas sent me his because he broke the cocking shoe and could not figure how to replace it.
After it arrived, I video taped the assembly process (maybe three minutes) and asked him if he wanted back?
“No. Throw it in the lake.”
My 1st and my friends are walnut.
The one from Mike (#2) is beech.
#1 is shooting at 13.5fpe.
#2 is shooting at 16.5fpe.
#3 is shooting at 12.0fpe thanks to a gift from the Motörhead..
Besides the cocking shoe issue on the Kansas rifle, there was an issue with the compression tube.
That required extensive disassembly and reassembly.
Now, I can do it with my eyes closed.
I know of at least one TX200 shooter that actually dismantled and reassembled his rifle while shooting in a match.
He is currently the World Champion in WFTF..
