Another 2240 carbine build.

Been done sooo many times but I'm doing me up a new one.
Starting off with a well used 2014 Crosman 2240.
So far it's been tore down and smoothing and polishing stuff, fully modified the valve so she's gonna be a gas hog, but that's ok.
Will post pics as I go or else it didn't happen, right !
Question for you guys, who here does powder coating  ? Thinking of rust blueing the steel parts, or just get it all powder coated ?

Love 22xx builds, from pistols to discos( I consider them a 22xx also lol). When I enquired about powder coating I was warned against it, was told the thickness could cause problems. Can't claim that's gospel as I didn't try it, but if you do please post how it turned out.
   I have been looking through my spare parts to build a new one myself,  have most of what I need but ordered a 2240xl just because they are still available. Hopefully the barrel is good on it, that adapter is a pain to get off, had to cut the one off the maxi and re crown.

Well I have had many things automotive powder coated over the years, if you know it's a tight fit, make sure it's taped off and not coated, like the threads for the end cap.. I'd make sure those places would be taped off and a note for the person, only place other that the obvious would be the main tube to the grip frame area, and that's ok in my book to be coated. And or I'd clean it from an area if tight fitted parts.
But yeah after thinking of a few things I've settled on getting it powder coated.

You may want to rethink about powercoating the gun especially the barrel!
Been their done that! It was a total box of rocks.
I ended up removing the power coat and cold blued the barrel.
The barrel band has to be slid on from the end of the barrel and tube so you have to remove all the pc from the end of the barrel and tube to the installation location. You could resize the barrel band to fit the barrel and tube but the pc varies in thickness. Just a few things to think about.

The only part I’d have powdercoated is the infernal grip frame, although I’ve had some other parts done with great success.

PC sticks well to it and it hides, due to its thick nature, imperfections that zamak/pot metal has.

I personally clean up mine, e.g., casting marks, blowholes, rough edges, etc. before I have it done, and this applies to any part I intend to send out for coating.

I did have a Marauder pistol tube done when they were coating a set of rims..You know, the dark grey color that is in vogue nowadays. I just paid the painter a couple of $.

I also had 2 of my Hatsan air strippers powdercoated when I was still in the PI. They’re anodized with an ugly finish. Besides, PC is very cheap in the PI, and the biggest PC company in my city was just 5 kms away from my abode.

Imagine paying less than $5 vs over a hundred that I paid to Absolute Powdercoating in Abq. 

Honestly, the ones I had done in the PI were of much better quality, especially the satin black. When done right, it is a gorgeous finish 👍

Got the stock in, rebuild o-rings for the valve, guess I need to contact Crosman on a barrel, not been able to get a good used one and I'm not paying $50 plus for one on ebay..
Been reading up on SSGs and may try my hand at making one, but if I could just find one already made, but don't see one for sale anywhere.
I get done with building this one it's going up for sale.. or trade for a 1322. Less power but I'm done with CO2.

Not really a fan of 3D printed parts, but it's the only way I know to get a picatinny rail on it, wish someone made one in aluminum.
May end up selling this 2240 and just concentrate on my 362 when I get it.

VHT Flame Proof clear, gloss or satin. You  can bake it for a super tough finish, or let it air dry for a week or so. I've used it on a handful of parts, air dried. Its good stuff, I sprayed the heat shields on the exhaust pipes on my bike with the satin black and topcoated with satin clear. They look great after two seasons of riding.
Personally, I would clear it,  it looks good as it is.

Both of these have VHT satin Flame Proof clear on them.  Whatever you do, I'm sure yours will look good. I appreciate everyone's creativity, we don't want our guns to all look the same.

I'm definitely different,, been a amateur gunsmith for years, had always worked on my own but took an Armorers course and Cerakote class 7 years ago for a gun shop I worked at till my back wouldn't let me sit over a work bench day in day out.
Just don't have the motivation to make my own custom parts anymore, if I can afford them I rather just pay for it and bolt it on.. not saying I still can't make something different.

I took a Remington 510 single shot, lathed out a 10-22 bull barrel to fit, steel picatinny rail, Boyds stock, Japanese made Tasco 6-18X40 AO scope.. sadly no place to shoot anymore but my yard, sooo back to airguns I am again lol.

Scary Mary Green has a drab green base coat but she will eventually have more camo colors added.
I really enjoy tinkering with these "lego" guns. Every few months or so I take them apart and change things up.

Well I decided to put it up for sale.
Messed up on the listen tho. Getting a mod to fix it.
New factory plastic breech.
1399 stock.
Fiber optic front sight.
Ported valve with new o-rings and seal, 2 extra seals.
Trigger work and lighter spring.
Slip on 3d printed dual picatinny rail.
