Hatsan 95 spring?

It's raining here and cold. Was reading the forums and started thinking ( can be a bad thing for me) about the spring in my new Hatsan 95. I have seen a couple springers that didn't lose fps and one that gained fps when the spring was shortened. I guess this is the meaning of "over sprung". Has anyone shortened the spring in the Hatsan 95? Did you lose fps? If so, how much? Thanks, Don

Based on some reading I've been doing lately, it's possible that shortening the spring in your situation will likely reduce power and velocity because you are reducing the preload on the spring. If this is a recent well engineered rifle I'm guessing that Hatsan balanced the amount of preload to provide the appropriate amount of power while also making the recoil and spring vibration manageable to have good accuracy. If the gun is harsh or has a lot of recoil, shortening the spring and decreasing the preload can reduce the vibrations and recoil... perhaps improving accuracy at the expense of velocity and power. If the rifle was well engineered I'm guessing that none of this is necessary but it would probably be fun to play with it and measure the results. Of course this is all info I have recently acquired by reading and I have no actual experience doing it.
