Crosman 180 and 400 bulk fill?

I have  nice examples of both these guns, and have been wondering if it is possible to bulk fill them. If so, what would I be required to do? I do not want a tethered gun, but a true bulk fill. Has anyone here done this to these rifles?

You could just add a drop block and a HPA tank regulated @ 850 psi.  Or buy or make a new pressure tube end cap to accommodate bulk fill CO2.

I converted a 180 to bulk fill using a tube extension from Mac1 and a fill cap from Brian and Associates. B&A is no longer around, I don't know about Mac1. The extension is 8”.  Gun holds about 50 grams of CO2.  The extra barrel band is one made for a QB.  Had an old Weaver J4 on when this picture was taken, now have a Nikon 4x32 on it.

Nice rifle! Flying Dragon had done up a  Xisico XS60C  like that for HPA.

I guess what I really want to know is if there is any valve modification needed. I have a couple of bulk fill adapters I got from Bakers a while ago that I was planning to use on my Disco and maybe on a Cr150. On the rifle that has had a tube extension added to it, how is the tube attached? Was it welded in, or threaded?

No valve modification needed, just replace the end cap with the bulk cap and you are good to go.  Of course, a tube extension greatly increases capacity and shot count. My extension threads on, very simple. I just don’t know if anyone still has them available.

That sounds good Terry. Yeah, I looked around the web and don't see anyone that is selling any tube extensions, so I might be out of luck. Brya abd Assoc are long gone, and Mac1 is in the wind somewhere or other. Bummer. I take it that the extension you have simply threads onto the original tube?

  If I were a machinist, I would get some 7/8" .058 wall tubing and make some long tubes for these guns.  It wouldn't be a hard job, for someone who knows what they are doing.  I think I could do the drilling but not the threading.

You know, that others had thought about that.  I still think it would be easier to make a drop block to accept a HPA bottle that could be swapped between various Crosman Co2 rifles that have the same dimensional characteristics without modifying the air gun.  It gets cold where I live, so in the winter Co2 is a no/go.  And this would also allow you to use a Co2 bottle.
The threading, (J type thread), is the easy part, as is the drilling and milling.  My biggest concern would be getting quality DOM tubing and setting up for pressure testing.

And another plus for the Drop block is that you would not have to remove the barrel to change the bottle / Drop block / on-off valve setup.

 I just noticed, there is a first variant 180 with an 8” bulk fill extension up for sale on eBay, starting at 160 bucks.
