Lovely gun. I don't conduct business on the bay but that is surely tempting.
I've got no experience fixing up pumpers. If I did, I might spring for it as it looks like the kind of classic I'd want.
Despite my apparent resolve to stop buying guns and focus in on what I got, this looks like too sweet a deal. I am having some trouble with ebay when I make an offer. Maybe that's a sign. That Cap lists this as his favorite gun (or similar to it) tips me over the edge. So I may try again on a computer later today rather than this pad and see if ebay lets me proceed with an offer.
That ebay 140 does look nice, but it is a 3rd variant from the late 60's, not 50's. Some had adjustable triggers, but the safety is a tell-tale sign it is a 3rd variant. I have quite a few of the 140's in all the variants, and they are well made great rifles. The 1400's are a bit heavier but perhaps even better with a little more velocity, at least my two 1400's do.As mentioned, the hardest re-seal part is knowing the quad seal exists, and how to replace it! The other trick is knowing that the plug at the end of the bolt, has a recessed nylon washer that holds it in. Always look for pry marks around that plug where someone removed the screw then tried to pry it out with the washer still in place. Most are dated with a stamp either in the wood between the forearm and stock, or stamped on the rear of that plug.Great shooters.Sorry if this info is obvious but thought I'd post for newer enthusiasts exploring the threads.
