Building Crosman air guns, mostly barrel questions

I have modified six different Crosman air guns now. 1322, 2289, 2250, 362 LE, 2400 KT, and 3622. I like the triggers on the 362 and 3622. I found a good pellet for the 3622 that holds tight groups, and the 2400 KT has a Lothar Walther barrel that will shoot almost anything well. All the rest kinda not so good. I think a different barrel would work to fix this and I am looking at adapting an Air Venturi or Air Venturi X barrel. I hear a Marauder rifle barrel can work, but I cant find one of those for sale. I need some suggestions. I may try to machine barrel bands and breeches to accept these barrels.

Have you tried Crosman premier hollow points ?
And how are the crowns on the barrels that haven't impressed you ?

All my Crosman barrels shoot great with CPHP's, enough that I have felt no need to try any others in them.

Depending on how long you are willing to go, the Disco and Maximus barrels are a good option. I do not have a Maximus barrel, but they are said to be very accurate. I do know that the Disco barrels are as I have a .22 on my 362 and 1322 build, as well as a .177 Disco barrel on my 362 to 367 conversion. I am very satisfied with the accuracy of all three which are 1/2" or better accuracy at 25 yards. Alliance has both calibers of the Disco barrel listed and I bought my .177 from him.

A 21" MROD barrel needs modification in the breech area; it's an O-ring in barrel type and the same diameter as the 22xx/13xx barrels.

I have 2 in LW version, and it's very accurate, although I've only used one; the other one being a spare. It's 1 hole at 25 yards, my limited range, with JSB RS pellets, but it needs a tune. It's a drop-in in the Marauder pistol breech but requires for the 2 flat spots to be lengthened a bit by a file for the 2 breech screws to hit them right.

They're not that cheap though at about $105-110 shipped.

Note: I no longer use Crosman barrels and just recently bought another brand new 22xx 10" Lothar from a member here.

For backyard shooting though I much prefer  .177; much cheaper and easier on the paper targets, and my PCP ones didn't really require a special tune. I just set them up for low power, i.e., small hole TPs and .038" MAP springs, and they behave like they're regulated. My .22 PROD with a LW MROD barrel and Fortitude tube on the other hand is also very accurate, but I only get 10-12 very precise shots, then it gives me another set of pinpoint hits but on a different spot. I plan to regulate this one.

I think Buck Rail, the 3D shop, still has 24” Crosman barrels. They’re inexpensive..

Not too sure about Alliance Hobby, but like Spooner said, call him 1st for confirmation before you order.

Thank you very much. I assume I just call Crosman with Credit card ready, no website. I am excited to try this barrel, My other two LW barrels are just better in regards to accuracy. I want 1/2" or less at 25 yards and the Lothar Walthers and only one Crosman have done this for me. I may order a 1701P grip frame if the barrel works out.

Remember, these are not drop-in if you’re using a 22xx/13xx breech.

2400-170 (.22 cal) and 2400-171 (.177 cal)—— sadly, they were no more when I called up Crosman right after they closed the Crosman Custom Shop.. They’re the 14.6” version.

I own 2 in .177, and I’m always in awe when I shoot them, be it attached to a PCP, pumper, or C02. They’re capable of doing 1 hole 5-group shots at 25 yards, no kidding.

They’re much more accurate than the 10” 2300-002 barrel..I own 3 of these 👍

The 17xx barrels are the probe O-ring design, but it seems the leade taper is different than the 22xx’s; a 22xx .177 probe doesn’t fit and is tight, so the leade taper is somehow different. The TP hole is also flatter on the 17xx barrel and a bit different, so I’m not too sure if it has to be recut for a new leade. I have both barrels but the 17xx is attached to a gun right now.

Keep in mind that these are not shorter length barrels. The Disco is 24" and the Maximus is 26".

This will give you a visual reference. It is a Disco barrel on a 1322.


Also, it takes a couple weeks to get your order from him. When I ordered my Disco .177 earlier this year for my 367 project, it was just under two weeks for delivery.

Steve, This is a stock made by Tom West. I bought these from him 4 or 5 years ago and not sure he makes them anymore. I was pointed to him by a member here. His email is urgthrash@yahoo.com.

This is the other one he made which is on my 1377...


He is very talented and his stocks fit with perfect precision.
