Beeman R7 front sight

How is the front sight of this rifle removed?  It's a pre-safety version which has a dovetail that's perpendicular to the barrel, I think!

If you are so inclined, the classic small Lyman 17 tunnel front sight will fit this dovetail (with the major caveat that I've never done this myself, I would assume it's the version with "European dovetail"). Back in the days of Robert Law's "Air Rifle Headquarters" in WV, he sold the HW 30 with a Williams peep sight and this front sight.

That being said, any aperture sight will work just fine with the R7's front post as is.
