I know, I know, most people dislike the practice,...I on the other hand quite enjoy using handpumps to charge my PCPs

I hear the claim of how hard it is, and I think that is sooo much blown out of proportions, ...tedious ? yes it definatly is, ......but Hard ? C'mon, .....unless you a gilrly fella, it's not hard at all

I have 7 pumps, so I rotate, never let them get hot and never have to wait for cool down period

That's a lot of pumps....Heck, that's a lot of guns.

(If you sold all those pumps, it would pay for a nice 4500# SCBA set-up)

It wouldn't be bad if I was just pumping it up to go hunting. But when just target shooting, and having to refill several times in a session, it gets real old real fast. Plus the fact that it does get the heart rate up a little bit. That in and of itself is not a bad thing, but makes tight groups somewhat more difficult.

Just one old guy's preference, prefer to pump fill all the PCPs.

If I got that much shooting to do, will pick up a springer.

i like pumping my disco, but at the same time once i get anther pcp since it will be a 25cal i want a tank and then a hill pump as back up..

once i get a tank setup im going to tear down the benji pump and rebuild it but also clean it out and debur everything and smooth what needs to be smooth so when or if i ever need a back up pump for a dry tank or whatever.. the pump is good to go

That's what I do too, target shooting with a PCP gets old real fast

Pump is the way to go. If you want no effort shooting you might just as well use powder burners. If you can't use a pump there are recoilles springers out there. If your hand gets tired from cocking the springer, well back to powder burners. If cocking the bolt in them is too hard ... well they don't call it shooting sports for nothing

i have over 2000 rounds through my disco,all hand pumped with the benji pump.
its not that difficult to pump to 2400 psi.
i shoot down to about 1100,then pump up to 2400....about 60 pumps.
after 1400 psi my back is on fire....lol.
i have a muscle condition that i dont really care to talk about....even with that,i dont mind pumping.
the air i make is free.

Nomadic Pirate, what pump do you prefer? I will be getting my first pcp in January and want to start off with a pump.

It will be an M-rod in .22

id go witha hill mk3 pump.. their pricey at just under 300 but rebuild kits are very easy to get from pa and they are built with higher quality then the benjamin hand pump

I don't mind it, going from 150 to 200 bar isn't a tough task. Now doing valve mods in my air reservoir and pumping from empty, that one leaves you wanting to pass out lol

Sorry, but PCP in my book, is one big expensive PIA. I'll stick with my Sheridans, Springers or Co2.

i dont mind the pump....but i dont know any better. LOL i dont have a tank. but i agree with richard ...if im target shooting it does get old after 4-5 pump up's.

Target shooting? I started with the Mrod for a couple fills, moved to the Prod for a couple more, then ended with the NP Venom. Shooting bug satisfied, as far as quantity goes, and shared the love all around without killing myself pumping.

I don't mind pumping my Disco... 50 pumps for about 25 shots... works for me. It isn't "easy" but if you are in decent shape shouldn't be hard for anyone... I could see if I had health issues or had a bad back or something.... but at my age, I would feel lazy filling it any other way than by pump.
