After reading your post, I checked out the.22 cal. Gamo Varmint Power on Gamo's web site.

It looks like it might be a decent rifle to me.  I don't know any reason to think otherwise.

I appreciate the response. I was hoping for someone to respond that has one, the reason being I have had an issue still in the process of getting resolved from Gamo. Ironically, I to have a Gamo GR Magnum that I bought 1 1/2 years ago that is currently at Gamo for the second time to fix a 50 - 60 fps loss in power that occurred over about six-month period using Crosman Premier Domes 14.3 grains. Either a bad piston seal or a weakening spring. Started out about 29fpe, down to about 24fpe. First return, for some reason despite a lengthy explanation, they did nothing other than test fire it. To their credit they paid shipping the 2nd time and said they would replace it if they can't fix it. Has to be a spring or piston seal issue. On the plus side, I also have a Gamo Hunter Extreme Pro for 2 1/2 years that has performed great, accurate with no loss of power (about 27fpe).

I have a coil spring .22 Gamo that shares the same chassis.
Gamo only makes a few power plants, and then slaps on different stocks and barrel shrouds for different looks, but performance is the same.
I get 14+ ftlbs with CPHP 14.3's in Atlanta, more with JSB 15.89's. If you are at higher elevation, you will get less, closer to sea level, more.
Accuracy is surprisingly good with a pellet it likes: dime size clover leaf at 10 yards, rested, 5 shots. CPHP's give a flyer here and there for me, other pellets don't.
I have never had a Gamo pellet be the 'best tested' in any air rifle of any kind.
Gamo USA does not offer support to tuners. Customer service inexplicably screeches to a halt, too.

As to your coil spring magnum, a change of pellet can also drastically change ftlbs.
All new coil springers 'settle in' after enough cycles. Some slow down, and some speed up. As long as the fps standard deviation and extreme spread stay small and the lower power plateaus to a consistent number, the loss of some power can smooth out the shot cycle and make the shooting experience much nicer and more accurate.

Actually, the Varmint Power .22 has the same power specs as the Whisper Mach Fusion 1 in terms of power due to it also having the 33mm cylinder. In theory it should get around 20- 22 fpe with Crosman Premier 14.3 grain pellets. I live at around 500 feet elevation so I should get very close to that. Accuracy on both my Gamo rifles has been very good. None of my other spring guns (eight) have shown any drop like this in speed with the same pellets. I completely agree that elevation and different pellets can make a very noticeable difference in fpe which is why I always use keep comparisons by keeping those variables the same. I will see if I ever get an owner response, if not depending on how Gamo does on fixing my GR magnum after the 2nd try and how low the price gets on the Varmint Power next sale, I will make my purchase decision.

Apologies, Mark, I somehow missed the 33mm spec that is there for all to see.
I am sure, per Custom Air Seals, et al, that Gamo's stated 33mm spec is the outside diameter of the compression tube, which must be for marketing purposes.
The piston seal for the 33mm Gamo tube is 29mm.
Sorry for the earlier miss, and I am interested to hear the outcome of these mysteries, too.

No problems at all Matt. I appreciate the dialog and have found I often pick up information that I wasn't aware of and need to know even if I don't get direct answers to my question. If I ever buy a Gamo Varmint Power, I will post the results. As you mentioned already, and I found out after I bought my second Gamo, their spare parts support for home repair is basically non-existent. That's why I will only buy their sub $150 or less guns, preferably spring powered only from now on.

Howdy Y'all,

I've been away for a while and haven't been active on GTA so I've missed a few questions.

This gun looks like the Basic B19 clone that Gamo has been selling for years under many different names, the main problem with this platform come from mass production with stamp steel components and molded plastics and not attention to detail in assembly.

The main seal probably failed in your first gun from either dieseling or a nick in the seal from assembly, that would account for the drop in FPE, this is actually an easy fix with a replacement seal from ARH.

I sent the gun back to Gamo several weeks ago for the 2nd time telling them just that or a possible weak spring since its under warranty. Gamo said they would replace the gun with a new one if they couldn't fix it. Gamo paid for the shipping, so I can't argue with that. I don't have a spring compressor, though I know it's not hard to make one. Thanks for the input.

  I have a Gamo Varmint Power .22 that i bought a few months ago. I havent shot it much nor have i gotten a chance yet to chrono run the Varmint Power- winter, cold and windy..
 First it is a little longer and heavier than the .177 Varmint. Cocking is somewhere around 40+ lbs. Good Power and accuracy so far, though i have only shot it on two runs.
 I was waiting to have more experience and info before posting on the Varmint .22. So far i like it Alot ive just been waiting on better weather to get more shots through.

It will be interesting to see your chrony numbers. I suspect it should be around 20 - 22 fpe with most pellets. Gamo just took the price down to $99 on the Varmint Power. I decided not to get it due to the lack of fixed sights. On another note, Gamo did send me a new GR Magnum replacement, so I am happy about that. This one shooting at 27 - 29 fpe depending on pellet. First one either developed a damage piston seal or a weakened spring, since the first four hundred shots were at 27 - 29 fpe with it. Very accurate as well.

 Today I shot around 30 times before the chrono run. I had gotten the Included 4x32mm scope hitting close at 27 yards using GamoHunterImpact 15.4gr. These are low costing pellets that have alot of variation in fit and weight, this makes them good for break in or shooting Cans. GHI 15.4gr have a large fps spread in all the air rifles i have tried them in. Ill test more pellets at another time after more shots are through.
 Caulking the GVP.22 is Heavy, more than 40 lbs. Also the shot report is Loud,, like Loudloud, not neighborhood friendly this more like a hunter. Shot recoil is mighty.. fun though fun. Using other pellets will have higher FPE and lower FPS spread.
 Manual safety in front of the trigger. Recoil Reducing Rail. Adjustable Trigger. My Ears are slightly ringing from the 40+ shots. I had left my earphones charging which i use as hearing protection from some of the louder Airguns ik heb.
