Just read two books..
The story of science. From Aristotle to the big bang theory by Susan Wise Bauer. A very intetesting book and she is an accomplished author.
The other was a biography of Charles Pete Conrad. US Navy aviator who walked on the moon. A true died in the wool American Rocketman . But he didnt shoot airguns .

Ordered today an old favorite science fiction novel by Joanne Vinge "Psion"

I recently finished "Friend of My Youth" and "Sjourn" by Amit Chaudhuri, "City of Glass" by Paul Auster, "Albert Camus, A Very Short Introduction" by Oliver Gloag, "Bodies" a graphic novel by the late Si Spencer, "Galatea" a short story byMadeline Miller' "Barcelona Dreaming" by Rupert Thomson and "Distant Star" by Roberto Bolando.

I am now reading, "The Song of Achillies" by Madeline Miller, "Night Jasmine Man" by David Lambkin, "The Stronghold" and "The Love Affair by by Dino Buzzati, "The People Immortal" by Vasily Grossman and "Bodies II" by Si Spencer.

lefteyeshot, that’s quite a list. Do you always have more than one book going at a time? I usually do. It can result in a few books taking forever to finish.

I just finished Tom Zoellner’s The American Road, a collection of his essays. After a slow start that I almost quit in the second chapter, the essays got better and better. The last several are gems that I wish I could buy in themselves without the earlier blather.

Eagerly awaiting the local library getting the novel, North Woods. Till then, I will crack open one or two books that I bought but haven’t yet read because I keep finding another enticing library book...

I’ve seen so many recommendations and quotes from The Art of War that it is on my must-read list.

I usually read three or four at a time. Takes awhile but I can't stand to wait. At my age might die before I get to it. Get at least a taste of it. If it's not written well, or at least my version of written well, I might not finish it. If written well I might finish it weather I'm interested in the subject/plot for the pleasure of reading a higher sense of words. I also like character driven books.

I caved. Went to the library to get The Art of War and found two other books to bring home as well.

I just finished reading "Homeland" and am now reading "North and South", both are rather lengthy and both are by John Jakes.  It's just too cold to shoot.

Ways of the Rifle (.22 Three-Position Air Rifle) book is a must read for any airgunner.

Just read Anarchy by William Dalrymple. It is about the East India company and what they did in and to India. Not a nice book but well worth reading. Now reading The City of Djinns by same author. Interesting but I dont think I will be going to India
I read a lot because I can't be bothered with Nz television.

  A couple weeks ago i bought a book.. this is the first book ive bought in a Looong time. The book is called, " The Navigator who Crossed the Ice Walls, by Nos Confunden. It is a work of fiction, exploring the lands beyond ant-arctica. Fun read, im thinking to get more of his books in this theme of, " beyond the Icewall".

It’s funny how westerners watch the news about narcotics wars in Latin America completely not understanding that the most successful narco state ever was the British Empire.

Maybe the US is runner up.

Just read Loren D. Estlemann's "Vamp" (I'll read anything he writes!)and P. T. Deuterman's "Iwo, 26 Charlie" (I like his stories about WW II).  I am re-reading John Sandford, both his "Prey" series and Virgil Flowers books, and Stuart Woods' Stone Barrington series; I have books from all three series on the shelf to read next.  I read 15-20 novels per month so I'm always taken aback by people who talk about not reading or reading very little.  I'm one of those people who read the cereal box at breakfast, for the umpteenth time, if I don't have something else to read.  Since I can't afford $400-$600 per month to buy books, most of what I read comes from the public library.  My wife, on the other hand, tends to buy  books so we have more than 800 books scattered around the house.

Well, I've read 30-to-35-ish books since Thanksgiving; all sci-fi.  Hooray Amazon Prime Reading!

For Scifi reading if you havent already you could try the Foundation series  by Isaac Asimov. He was a Russian born American scientist turned author.  Such a creative mind . That series is amazing reading. Best read in order. The challenge is to work out who the Mule is.

Great series of books!  The Foundation series actually starts with I, Robot- moving on through the Caves of Steel/Foundation series.  IE: they all connect.  I started on these books when I was very young (single-digit age)- read them shortly after giving up on Dune series (which was good but not as good as everyone claims, IMO).  I admit, I was very heavily influenced by other writers, as well- in particular Edgar Rice burroughs.  From Tarzan and John Carter to The Mucker and Carson Napier- even Beyond the Farthest Star  .  And all THOSE series connect in some form (thanks to the fictional Gridley Wave and Jason Gridley!).

Sci-fi-wise, pretty much everybody on Baen and Tor who writes sci-fi.  The Baen Free Library was amazing; though not as good as it was, it still is incredible.  I also admit being a big fan of Space Opera, not just run of the mill Science Fiction. 

Now, another thought: To get a true feel for what inspired Asimov, you REALLY need to find/borrow/steal Before the Golden Age, an anthology of science fiction that influenced Isaac Asimov.  The stories are all fascinating. 

I also consider pretty much everything by Heinlein to be excellent.  Starship Troopers- the book- was a revelation for me.  Likewise, some books such as Armor (by Steakley) are incredible reads.  There are a few books I read every year:

I've read just about every book you listed. I'm watching the foundation now. Can't remember who is producing it but it's not following the book very good. I've read all 7 of the dune series.
